Principal's Report
I am privileged to have the opportunity to act in the relieving role as Principal for the remainder of this year. As we approach the end of what has been a truly successful year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the achievements and highlight some upcoming events.
Our Presentation Day is fast approaching and will be held at 11:30 AM on the 10th of December 2024, on the covered basketball court. Parents of students receiving awards should have already received an email regarding this. We look forward to celebrating our students' hard work and accomplishments.
We also had several exciting excursions, including the PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) trips to Wet n Wild and the Chapel Theatre to view Dance Spectacular. Additionally, our students will soon embark on the highly anticipated Big Banana excursion. These experiences serve as wonderful opportunities to reward our students for their ongoing commitment to our school values of respect, responsibility, and diligence.
I would also like to highlight a wonderful initiative where a group of students recently assisted the ladies from the Red Cross to set up the entries for the Red Cross Christmas Tree display at Town Hall and help decorate the hall. The reports we received were glowing, praising our students' conduct and strong work ethic. It is fantastic to see our students giving back to the community and representing our school with such pride and commitment.
One highlight of the past weeks has been the amazing art exhibition, showcasing the incredible artistic talent being developed at Glen Innes High School. This exhibition is a testament to the hard work and creativity of our students, supported by the guidance of our dedicated Visual Arts teachers. We are incredibly proud of the talent on display and grateful for the support of our Visual Arts department in nurturing these skills. If you have not had the opportunity to visit the exhibition is on until the 20th of December at the Glen Innes Art Gallery.
Looking ahead, the SRC’s Christmas Movie Night on the 11th of December 2024 promises to be an amazing event. Tickets are available from the office or via the school bytes app (if purchasing through the app this must be completed by Monday the 9th of December), and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the SRC for their excellent organisation and to the staff for generously donating their time to supervise the evening.
Semester Two reports will be issued via the school portal on the 16th of December 2024. This is also the same date that students will have the opportunity to participate in an end-of-year celebration at the pool. Emails with more details about this event will be sent out soon.
Thank you to all community members, staff, and students who participated in the community consultation. Your input is invaluable, and it’s essential that we continue to work together to ensure our school becomes the best it can be. Together, we can create a positive and thriving environment for everyone involved.
As we wrap up the year, I would like to thank everyone in our school community for their continued support. We are incredibly proud of the achievements and growth of all our students, and I look forward to finishing the year on a high note.
Wishing you all a wonderful and festive end to the year!
Warm regards,
Helen Millar
