Support For Students

As a school, we recognise that how individuals manage their emotions and stress following a critical incident is very personal and will look different for all individuals.

We are committed to providing students’ and their families with the support they need. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s advisory teacher or a member of the wellbeing team if you would like to discuss how we can work together to best support your child.

Mental Health Education Programs

On Wednesday 27th of November we were visited by the Headspace mental health and education program consultant, Bez.

Our year 6 -7 students participated in a workshop to support their transition from primary to secondary school. They looked at strategies to help support them through times of big change, how to look out for a friend that may need extra support and how what worry looks like for different people.

Bez then worked with our year 7 and 8 students to understand how to be an ‘upstander’ and stand strong against bullying. Student discussed what an upstander could say to a bully or how they could seek support if they were not comfortable to call out bullying on the spot. Students left the session with a bank of phrases that they felt best suited them as individuals to use if they ever needed.

We would like to thank Headspace for continuing to support our students and wider college community.

Support with Booklists

If any families suspect they may have difficulty purchasing some book list items, can they please make contact with Jess McGurk PRIOR to submitting book lists. It is unlikely that we can provide financial assistance for whole book lists, however we may be able to assist with some items (depending on the year level and what is actually required).

There are a few avenues that can be explored; however, we are unable to reimburse people for items that have been already paid for, or ordered, which is why it is really important that you reach out BEFORE finalising/submitting your book list this year. If it is left to next year, there could be some delay in accessing items.
