St Patrick’s - A College of Opportunity
For our students to do their best, it is important that they have a well-balanced routine. Here at St Patrick’s College, we aim to educate our young men not only academically, spiritually and emotionally but also within the realm of co-curricular. Delving deeper into our results last year, I thought it was important to point out how a healthy and balanced lifestyle contributes to positive overall outcomes.
Last year the College had two duxes, Jeremy Simonetto and James Kazzi both achieving ATARs of 99.7. They were on NESA’s All-round Achievers list. That is, they achieved a Band 6 in all their subjects. This was a remarkable academic achievement. We are a College of opportunity, so it is important for everyone in our community to be aware that not only were they very strong academically, but they were heavily involved in the College’s Co-curricular Program. James was heavily involved in our Rugby Program and Jeremy was one of the College’s best debaters, not to mention his involvement in Public Speaking and Football. Luke Sultana who was our Class of 2024 Proxime Accessit and an All-rounder, was also involved in Debating and Football. Our All-rounder list also included Justin Ryan who was in our First XI Cricket Team and Sebastien Garzaniti who played in our First XI Football Team.
These five young men took every opportunity that was available to them here at the College. They worked hard and played hard. Often our top students academically are also those students who are involved heavily in the Co-curricular Program. These young men are organised as they have so many competing commitments that they have to ensure they plan their time accordingly.
I would also like to mention the amazing achievements of our 2024 Captain of Rugby, Alex Conti. Not only was Alex part of our First XV over a number of years, as well as our Captain of Rugby, but he was also signed by the Canterbury Bulldogs Rugby Club, which involved heavy training and other playing commitments with them. Despite all these commitments he never strayed from his academic goals, and he achieved an ATAR of 94.85.
My message to all our young men here at the College is that you can have it all. You do not have to choose. You just need to take advantage of all the opportunities that St Patrick’s College has to offer.

McGlade Library Homework Club Re-opens
I am pleased to advise parents/carers and boys that the McGlade Library will re-open and be supervised from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM Monday to Friday as of Monday 10 February. Homework Club will provide an environment that is quiet and supervised by staff members available to assist the boys with developing good study habits, techniques, timetables, and the like.
Students will be expected to sign-in and sign-out at the commencement and conclusion of their homework session and are not compelled to stay for the full duration of the above-mentioned time. They should however make their parents/carers aware as to what period of time they will be using this facility to arrange travel home.
Those students availing themselves of this service are encouraged to bring some snacks and refreshments which they can consume between 3:10 PM and 3:30 PM. Please note that the McGlade Library will cater to a maximum of 60 boys per afternoon.
The following expectations will be placed on students attending these after-school Homework Club sessions, in that they are:
not to use their devices to play games
to remain on task and
to respect the privacy of others by working quietly.
The College is hopeful that families will benefit from this service. Any queries in relation to this matter should be directed to me in the first instance. Please note that Homework Club will not proceed on the following days:
Thursday 13 February due to the Senior School House Swimming Carnival
