🎶PERFORMING ARTS 🎭

你好 nǐ hǎo to our wonderful community!

It has been a creative, energetic and spontaneous start to the school year in Performing Arts, with all year levels exploring music and drama in their own unique way.

The Foundation students have enjoyed putting movements to stories, with lots of animal and action sounds on display. They have started exploring different percussion instruments, with the claves (rhythm sticks) and BoomWhackers proving a hit with students! We look forward to acting out popular nursery rhymes in the coming weeks as we explore characters and emotions through dramatic play.

The Grade 1 and 2 students have been exploring storytelling through fairytales, focusing on how traits and emotions of different characters are communicated through facial expression, body language and gestures. They have had lots of fun noticing how important our eyebrows are in communicating expression. Can you guess what emotions they are communicating in the pics below? ☹️😮😄😧🤔

The Grade 3/4 students have been expanding on their classroom Inquiry focus around 'Earth's natural resources', into the drama classroom. They have started scripting dramatic scenes that focus on moments of crisis and how we respond. To prepare, we have been creating tableaus of disaster and high emotion, with much learning around how we can capture a moment without sound or movement. Can you figure out the disasters that these students are 'snapshotting' below?

Grade 5/6 students have an exciting end of term with their involvement in the Let'sTALKitOUT! production. They are piloting this initiative for Let'sTALK, aiming to educate our school community on the importance of being seen, heard and valued when facing challenging moments in our lives. Students have worked hard within their class production teams, with each preparing and performing a different scenario for the show. From lighting to sound, stage visuals to on-stage roles, the students have worked collaboratively to prepare for this exciting launch. See the flyer below for more information!
