The Intermediate Boys Volleyball team won 1 set in the first game, then lost in a nail biter and won 1 set in their final. For many of them, it was their first time playing volleyball competitively, and they got better as the day went on. They learnt a lot about gameplay and rules and gained great insights on how to execute the volleyball skills.

Well done, boys!

Greater Dandenong District Senior Cricket - 9/2/26

With 4 teams in the competition it was a case of two knockout games then a final.

Game 1 against Minaret College

Our first game started perfectly with some clean hitting in an opening partnership of Atal (H12) 96 & Tejas (D12) 67 yielding 135 runs before losing our first wicket. A few quick cameo innings from Sail (G11) 30 and Hamza (F12) 14 set an enormous total of 224 from our 20 overs.

Minaret began their chase scoring freely from some wayward bowling but the fall of the first wicket slowed the momentum. From this point the Minaret wickets fell consistently seeing them all out for 92 in the 18th over.

The Dandenong bowlers shared the wickets with Atal 2/3, Qudratullah (C12) 2/15, Rizwan (D12) 2/0, Sail 1/5,  Ali (B12) 2/9, & Sahajbir (F12) 1/11.

Game 2 against Noble Park SC.

Dandenong won the toss and batted first but didn’t have things all their own way. After losing Atal & Tejas in the first two overs we collapsed to 3/33 after 5 overs. In a 12 over game, we didn’t have much time to rectify the situation but some clever batting by Sail 23 and Rizwan 29n.o. Led us to a defendable total of 97 off 12 overs.

Getting the key wicket in the first over put serious pressure on the rest of the NPSC line-up. Some fine fielding put added pressure on an undermanned team and we dismissed them for just 35 in the 12th over. Wickets, again, were evenly spread; Atal 1/5, Rizwan 2/10, Ikram (F12) 1/1, Taqi (H12) 1/2, & Abhi (C11) 1/2.

Well done gentlemen. A fine reward for a good days’ cricket. Greater Dandenong District Senior Cricket Champions for 2026. Southern Metro Quarter finals await!

Southern Metro Quarter Finals at Lloyd Park; Langwarrin - 5/3/26

The Senior Boys Cricket team continued their quest for honors by competing against Alkira SC.

Winning the toss and batting first we got off to a flying start with Atal (H12) and Tejas (D12) leading the way. Atal bludgeoned the bowling to all parts of the ground, making a quick 66 in 7 overs with Tejas feeding the strike to Atal allowing him to do his thing.

At 1/65 off 7 overs we had set a cracking pace and Alkira heads began to drop. The loss of a few wickets slowed our run rate significantly but we still managed to finish on 7/160 of our 20 overs. Key contributors were; Sail (G11) - 22, Hamza (F12) - 27 and Sahijbir (F12) - 15.

Alkira got off to a quick start but dismissing their openers in the second and third overs slowed their chase significantly. A steady flow of wickets looked like seeing the game  end in a slow fashion but some late hitting gave Alkira some hope but Atal chimed in with a key wicket to snuff out any chance they had. Alkira finished on 7/128 after looking like they would struggle to make 100 but all our bowlers contributed in restricting their scoring and picking up a wicket each. They were well supported by the fielders with every catch being taken. Catches win matches! Well done boys, now on to Southern Metro Semi Finals….

Southern Metro Semi-Final at Lloyd Park Langwarrin - 17/3/26

Again winning the toss we decided to bat against, what appeared to be, a very strong Melbourne HS side.

After losing the key wicket in the second over the batting line-up crumbled in unexpected fashion with no-one putting their hand up to try to take control of the situation. Sadly we were dismissed in the 13th over for the measly total of 21. Melbourne HS chased this paltry total down in 4 overs for the loss of only 1 wicket.

They showed us what effect disciplined bowling and fielding can have with 4 of our wickets being run outs caused by panicking in the pressure situation.

Still, it has been quite an achievement to get this far and to come up against such a talented side in the semi-final was a big ask.

Well done boys on a fantastic cricketing journey this term.
