Ryan's Rambling

Dear Families,

Another wonderful week at our amazing school concludes and I couldn’t be prouder of the way we have begun 2026.

At this time of the year, it’s always great to remind families that Dana Street, nor the Department of Education carry personal liability insurance of any kind. This means that if a child brings personal belongings to school, we are unable to replace them, and they do so at their own risk. I strongly recommend that if there are items of personal or sentimental value that you don’t send them to school. We do not restrict students bringing in personal comfort toys, as this often aids the transition into school.

One of the major foci for our school this year is concerned with attendance. Last year, a huge number of students had excessive absences from school. Of course, a lot of these are for very good reason! Sickness, family holidays are all part of life in general; however, we are working towards improving our attendance data, as a whole.

At assembly this morning, it was wonderful to have our ceremonial bell ringing for our Foundation students. As many of you will know, our final day of the year tradition for our graduating students ringing the bell has been a unique and special way of farewelling our graduates. We thought that it would be ceremonially fitting to have our newest students ‘enter’ the school and ring the bell as a symbol of them beginning their primary education journey. Thank you to the many parents who were able to attend and celebrate this special moment.

Please remember that our amazing staff are here to support and work alongside you to get the very best out of your child’s time at our school. For busy parents, we encourage you to contact us via the Sentral or make a time to meet if you have any concerns. I do appreciate our wonderful community understanding that our hardworking staff’s personal time shouldn’t be spent replying to messages and it is not an expectation that they do so.

Over the course of the weekend, I hope that you are able to carve out time to spend alongside those who matter most. It seems like I blink and the weekend disappears!

See you next week.
