SRC

The SRC ensures that student voices are heard and included in school decision-making.

I often use their input to help inform decisions into the school environment, learning resources, events and wellbeing initiatives. This year's SRC will actively seek input from students of different backgrounds and experiences. I congratulate our 2026 SRC students.

NAPLAN

Our Year 3 and 5 students start NAPLAN testing next week. NAPLAN is just one aspect of our school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy. For more information: https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/for-parents-carers

Wednesday 11th March: Year 3 & 5 Writing

Thursday 12th March: Year 3 & 5 Reading

Friday 13th March: Year 3 & 5 Language Conventions

Monday 16th March: Year 3 & 5 Numeracy

As part of supporting our students during NAPLAN, we will be holding a special NAPLAN Breakfast each of these dates, for Year 3 and 5 students, to help them start the day feeling calm, confident and well-fueled.

It was such a great morning, and all the kids did a wonderful job representing our school. Our school ended up coming 4th overall, which is also a great achievement.

we can offer. Donations for the Easter raffle, can include chocolate eggs or Easter themed products. Please drop your donations into the office.

The raffle will be drawn after our Easter Parade on Thursday 2nd April at 9:10am, families might like to start making their Easter Bonnets at home. All money raised from the Easter raffle will go towards a bike shed for our junior students. Tickets are just $1.00 each and are available from the office.

Harmony Day

Gallery Image

This year we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday 26th March. Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. The theme for Harmony Week 2026 (16–22 March) is “Culture connects us all!”, focusing on sharing stories, traditions and experiences to foster a strong sense of belonging. While “Everyone Belongs” remains the core ongoing message, the 2026 theme highlights unity through diversity.

We look forward to seeing classroom learning activities that promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Students are invited to wear a splash of orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, or traditional cultural clothing to celebrate their heritage. The colour orange symbolises meaningful conversations and cultural respect.

Assemblies

Over the next 2 weeks we are hosting our PLT Assemblies. For those new to our school, PLT Assemblies are smaller year level assemblies. They are each held in the gym and are hosted by classroom teachers and often students. The purpose of these assemblies, is for students to come together as a group and share the learning and achievements, throughout the year. Parents and families of the year level are encouraged to attend. They are set at different times throughout the next 2 weeks, please check the schedule on the "PLT Assemblies" page of this newsletter.

Our next Whole School Assembly will be held in the gym on Monday 30th of March. This assembly will also include the badge presentation for our Student Representative Council (SRC).

Following on from the call for nominations for our School Council I can confirm that we have successfully received 2 nominations from members of our school community.  As the number of nominations is equal to the number of vacancies we can declare that all positions have now been filled successfully.

Run Club

Starting on Thursday 12th March, on the school field, students will have the opportunity to run as many laps as they can between 8.40-8.50am. Each lap completed will be a point for their House.

Students can run, walk or a bit of both! Students will be supervised in this area from 8.40am until the music starts at 8.50am for those participating.

F-2 students will be running laps of the field and Years 3-6 students will be running the Colour Run track, through the basketball courts, behind the footy oval and back onto the field.

This is a great opportunity for students to practise their running technique, be active and have some fun!

Literacy Learning

Yesterday morning our school hosted a number of Literacy Leaders from other schools within our network for a meeting to share our literacy practice and learn from others. In  this meeting, we discussed the teaching of phonics for students from Foundation to Year 2, unpacking school and network data and sharing effective practices.

Irene, our Year 6 English Leader, also came along to welcome our guests and do our Acknowledgement of Country, as well as talk about her love of Literacy. We had a terrific turn out of neighbouring schools and will continue to host these throughout the year.

Bicycle Safety

If you are a parent/carer of a student who travels independently to school by bike, take a few minutes to review your expectations with your child about their travel to and from school.

Here are some great reminders below for us all.
