Information for Families

Drop ‘n’ Go Zones and General Parking

Our school has two areas, both along Kennedy Street, identified as Drop ‘n’ Go Zones for the purpose of student drop off and collection each day.  The idea of these zones is that cars enter from the back, move forward when there is a space, and move out again from the front when your child/ren are safely in the car and ready to go.

The SGSC has recently re-painted the lines and amended the signage of these areas to support this area to be utilised as it has been designed.  As such, parents are asked to:

  • Enter parking spaces from the back of the line
  • Remain in your car at all times
  • Move forward as the line moves up
  • Encourage your child to enter safely from the footpath (parents/carers may hop out of their car briefly to assist children with getting in the car
  • Pull out from the front of the line (preferred) but if waiting for the vehicle in front you may pull out when safe to do so

What we don’t want to see is parents leaving their car to walk into school to collect your child when parked in the Drop ‘n’ Go Zone.  This area is marked as two-minute parking and to ensure this area works efficiently, parents are required to stay in their car and move forward in line when a gap appears.  Please do not pull into this line or reverse in from the side, only join from the back of the line.

Our final reminder relates to parking in the Bus Zone out the front of the Administration Office. The sign (above right) indicates that parking should not be in this space between 8:00 and 9:30am, and again from 2:30 to 4:00pm.  If needing to park and enter the school, families are asked to please park either in designated spaces in Kennedy Street, in French Street near the gardens or in Griffin Street across from the office.  We understand that parking in and around our school precinct can be a little frustrating, but ask that families please adhere to these parking rules to ensure safety for our students remains at the highest possible level at all times.

Spriggy Schools will make lunch orders more convenient for both families and the canteen.

Steps to get started:

  1. Go to http://www.spriggyschools.com.au to register and download the app. You can also order directly on the website.
  2. Add a profile for each of your children, making sure you select Hamilton (Gray St) Primary School and your child’s class.
  3. Start placing lunch orders! You can place orders up to 2 weeks in advance. Orders must be placed by 9am on the day PRIOR to the lunch order.

The Hamilton Racing Club is managing the canteen and will be delivering orders to your school. All of the products are made in our commercial kitchen at the racing club by our kitchen staff (the exception is the kids pies and frozen yoghurt).  Our kitchen is headed by our Chef Campbell Cameron.  Nutritionist Ellie Falkenberg of Freshly Fed also works out of the racecourse and is making our snack menu products.

Special dietary needs can be added to your child’s profile.

Book Club

Dear Parent,

The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school.

Our school is participating in Scholastic Book Club this year. Up to twice a term, during the school year, we will send home a Club catalogue with a different selection of books offered for all ages.

You’ll find award-winning books and bestsellers, as well as old and new favourites. We recommend them because the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and because they are inexpensive (some books cost as little as $3).

Ordering is easy and must be done through the Book Club LOOP platform allowing parents to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school safe and sound and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
