| Religion | Created by God: Students will learn that they are created in the image and likeness of God and loved by God. The students will come to appreciate that they have been created by God to be free and creative and to engage with all of creation. The unit introduces the second story of creation in the Book of Genesis, which speaks of the creative free act of God, an outpouring of divine love and goodness, in which we are called to share. Students will be encouraged to explore their own giftedness and identify how they can use their gifts for the good of all. They will explore God’s love, revealed in them, in others and in all creation. The students will also look at ways they can give glory and praise to God for the wonderful gifts they have been given. Lent: Students will explore Lent as a time of renewal. The unit examines the season of Lent as a time to reflect on ways we can change and follow Jesus more closely through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. In the Gospels we learn how Jesus gave himself for others. The unit concludes by providing students with the opportunity to reflect on the events of Holy Week, in preparation for the great celebration of the Easter Triduum and Easter season. |
| English | The Connecting to Country and Community unit focus is on how language and connection shapes our understanding of ourselves and our world "our place in space". Oral language and communication, vocabulary building, phonic knowledge, reading comprehension and creating written texts through understanding and responding to literature, will comprise the content focus of the unit. Students will continue to learn about how to understand and use language effectively throughout the unit. This Term will also focus on explicitly teaching and unpacking a toolkit of rich tasks for comprehension. These activities have multiple entry points for different ability groups and will be incorporated into guided reading rotations after being unpacked during Modelled and Shared instruction. |

This unit involves students working scientifically and using scientific thinking. |
| HSIE (Human Society & its Environment) | History: Students learn about the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples who belong to a local area. The lessons are structured so that initial activities introduce students to the big idea behind the lesson. In doing so they develop an understanding of the Aboriginal heritage of their local area and explore the historical concepts of perspectives, empathy, sources and continuity and change. |
| Creative Arts | Term 1’s unit focuses on exploring and appreciating art and drama. Students explore ideas of beauty, awe and emotion through perspective and composition, looking at artists such as Ron Brooks, Marc Chagall and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. They develop skills in drawing, colour and tonal work, and apply these ideas in their own artworks. |

They will investigate a range of responses and strategies to deal with challenges and different situations in order to build their capacity to respond appropriately in the future |
