What a big year at TPS!

Mr Hogan

This is our final newsletter for 2025, with our Term 4 dismissal next Friday at 1:30pm. It has certainly been a huge year, with so much to celebrate. A few of the major highlights have included:

  • our second annual story writing competition, which was even better than our first competition in 2024.
  • Improvement in nearly all NAPLAN learning areas, including big gains in our Year 3 data.
  • being part of the Inform and Empower program, which taught our students and community about the importance of Digital Safety.
  • A brand new library space for all students to utilise in the main building.
  • New playground equipment, such as Gaga Pit, 9 square in the Air and Outside Table tennis tables.
  • Sporting success, highlighted by our Lawn Bowls team coming runners up in the state, 2 students competing at State Cross Country and Athletics and our girls soccer team making the Regional stage in Swan Hill.

  • Our Community Programs continuing to go from strength to strength with regular visits to Aged Care, Senior Citz and GTS, along with a number of students participating in Hands on Learning, our Breakfast Club program, Boys to the Bush and Empowered Girls.
  • Successful camps to Pioneer Settlement, Murray Life Adventures and Cottage by the Sea, as well as great excursions and incursions for the students to take part in.

This is only a snapshot of what we have achieved over the past year.

Just in Term 4 we have:

  • taken part in the Empowered Girls and Boys to the Bush programs with our senior students.

  • welcomed our 2026 Foundation students every Friday for their transition sessions.
  • competed at Regional Athletics, T20 Cricket, Basketball and Lawn Bowls, with some of our students qualifying for State Athletics and our Lawn Bowls side finishing runners up in the state.
  • participated in summer sports events for our 3-6 students and the F-2 Kaboom sports.
  • had many students take part in hosting our annual Beersheba Day service.
  • hosted Tonny's Got Talent with the winners getting the opportunity to perform at the school Fete.
  • held our bi-annual Fete, which again was a major success.

  • celebrated our Grade 6's with their Graduation evening.
  • had fun at our end of year whole class party.

It has certainly been a huge term and year. We look forward to seeing what 2026 has in store.

Key Dates

You will see we have already started to put out some key dates for the start of 2026.

A couple of things you may notice is that our 2026 Foundation students have got each Wednesday off during February. This allows the students to have a rest, but also teachers to complete some important testing at the start of the year.

Our Grade 2 camp is going back to the sleepover that was held for many years. This is very popular with the students and is a great experience.

Also, we are trialling running our school swimming program and carnvial in late November next year, rather than at the start of the year. Changing this program coincides with the start of summer and the swim season, and also supports the local pool and their Swimming Club program.

Graduation

Graduation evening will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, 16th December at the Shire Hall in Tongala.

End of year party

The following day is unofficially our final day of classes and our wonderful Parents and Friends have organised a huge whole school party to celebrate.

The day will involve a colour run, water slides, a slip and slide, some quiet activities, a dance party and a sausage sizzle to top things off.

There will be no cost involved and is taking place of individual grade parties.

This will no doubt be an amazing, fun day for everyone.
