Hello Parents and Friends,
What an amazing term!
It has been a wonderful term of learning at Templestowe Park PS and we could not be prouder of our school community. We have seen outstanding learning in our classroom and specialist areas, producing some of the best results we have ever achieved. Our sporting and extra-curricular teams have performed exceptionally well and you can learn about the achievements of our Grade 6 Debating Team in the Learning @ TPSS section of this newsletter. Our Grade 5/6 students had an outstanding camp to Alexander Adventure Resort where they pushed themselves to try things that they were a little afraid of and spend time away from the comfort of home. The COLA was completed and has provided our students with an exceptional covered learning area for learning and play. Our JSC did an amazing job raising money for our school and for local charities. This culminated in our sensational sausage sizzle and first letter dress up day last Thursday. Please see the photos of the day below. Our PFA, School Council and school community worked tirelessly to support our students and give them the very best chance to be successful in all areas of school life. Finally, as you will read below, the school has achieved some of the best student attendance in school history. Like we said, what an amazing term!
We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break. Our students will return to school on Monday 13 July. As you will read below, we will be celebrating NAIDOC Week during the first week of Term 3. We invite the entire community to our special ‘Smoking Ceremony’ at 9:30am on Monday 13 July as we launch our NAIDOC Week celebrations.

We had an amazing time watching the Socceroos play Paraguay at the World Cup today.
Australia got the draw and we are off to the knockout rounds. We will all be watching the knockout game on the holidays. Go Socceroos!

Our vastly improved student attendance has continued in Term 2. From one of the lowest performing schools in attendance in 2025, we are now one of the leading schools in Victoria and the Department of Education are asking about our strategies so they can assist other schools. We are so proud of our students, families and school community for turning this around in 2026. It is a truly exceptional effort. It is now our goal to maintain this exceptional attendance rate for the remainder of the year as it is having such an exceptional impact on student wellbeing, academic outcomes and school spirit.
Please see the sensational data below.
Comparing Term 2 2025 to 2026
Attendance categories | Term 2 2025 | Term 2 2026 |
100% Attendance | 34 students | 117 students |

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year. At TPPS we are excited to celebrate NAIDOC Week and 50 Years of Deadly in the first week of Term 3 (Monday 13 - Friday 17 July).
Over the last week, our Prep – 2 students have had the opportunity to enter a NAIDOC Week colouring competition and Grade 3-6 students, a short story writing competition. We have had many truly amazing entries! A selection of student entries will be displayed in the main building next term and then entered into the nationwide competitions.
We will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout the week. Please see a rundown of NAIDOC Week events at TPPS below.
Monday 13 July at 9:30am on the front oval – We invite the entire community to join us for a Smoking Ceremony hosted by Ian Hunter. We are very excited to be a part of this ancient custom as the smoke will cleanse our school and ward off bad spirits from the people and the land.
Monday to Friday – All students from Prep – Gr 6 will be studying Aboriginal stories and history within their classrooms, learning Aboriginal games in PE, learning an Aboriginal song in Performing Arts and undertaking lessons about the history of NAIDOC Week in the classroom.
Friday 2:45pm 17 July – NAIDOC Week Assembly
The entire community is encouraged to join us for our NAIDOC Week Assembly. Our students will be singing an Aboriginal song they have learnt in Performing Arts and a selection of students will read the NAIDOC Week short stories they have written entitled ‘Last Naidoc’. We will be celebrating everything about NAIDOC Week at this special assembly.

Every Victorian Government school must undertake a School Review every four years. Templestowe Park will be undertaking our Review in Term 3. As part of the 4-year review, the school is assessed for the minimum standards of school registration and for our Child Safe Standards compliance. The work for this compliance assessment is extensive and Brian Cleary spent substantial time in Term 2 collating our process and procedures to ensure school safety and the optimum environment for student learning. We are pleased to inform you that TPPS passed the assessment with flying colours and the School Compliance Officer expressed that it was the one of the most comprehensive and thorough reports that he has assessed. Congratulations to Brian and our entire school for the work that makes TPPS an outstanding and safe learning environment.

Over the school holidays, the retaining wall next to the school hall that was removed to complete our COLA works will be replaced with mud rocks. The garden area surrounding the mud rocks will also be landscaped and this will provide a lovely entry to our school grounds. Additionally, painting maintenance will take place around the school. Painting works include brightening up our student games, outdoor seating and walls, and redoing the lines in our carparks. This is part of our regular maintenance that is supported by the contributions by families to our Building Fund. We thank you for your contribution.

At our Assembly last week, Aleena O received the Principals' Award.
