20-Year Reunion for the Class of 2006

At around the 20-year reunion mark, our alumni start to realize they have spent more years out of school than they ever spent in one. So, returning to the College for this milestone reunion can feel foreign but also deeply nostalgic. It is an opportunity to celebrate the memories and simpler times of childhood, and equally the lives they have built since graduation.

On Tuesday 17th March, a mild Melbourne evening, the atmosphere in the Year 12 Common Room was equally warm and inviting. Several alumni brought spouses/partners along to see their former school, although most remarked that almost nothing was the same since graduation, except for a few classrooms and stairwells! We even had two alumni along who completed their Year 12 studies at other schools, and it was such a joy to reconnect and hear everyone's fond memories of their times, friends, and teachers at the College.

Mr David Lepileo (WS Head of Campus) opened the evening, welcoming everyone to the event. Mr Andrew Bawden (WS Head of Secondary) then shared some of his own memories, and opened the floor for alumni to share stories and things they remembered from their WCC days. Highlights included retreats and hikes together, funny teachers, and student antics that hopefully the teachers didn't notice! We were also honoured by the presence of Mr Peter Sheahan (retired Principal) and Mr Ian Bawden (retired WS Head of Secondary), who spent the evening happily chatting with everyone. A campus tour highlighted how all things change over time, but that strong foundations are a worthwhile investment. Mr Rod Ramsay (Principal) closed the evening with prayer and heartfelt encouragement for everyone present to stay connected to God, to their local church, and to one another—including those not able to be present on the night. Many lingered late, but eventually everyone headed home with huge smiles, personalised goodie bags, and hopefully even more happy memories.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at the event! It was wonderful to catch up with each of you, and we are deeply grateful that you have stayed connected with WCC after all this time. For those who weren't able to make it, know that you are missed and prayed for.
