Welcome

Dear Alumni Community,
As the first term of the new academic year comes to a close here at WCC, it's great to be able to welcome you to the first Alumni Newsletter of 2026. A special welcome goes out to our newest alumni, the Class of 2025, from both our Narre Warren South and Wantirna South campuses. We are so proud of all you have achieved so far on your journey, and are honoured by your desire to keep in touch with the College. Know that no matter how many years it has been since graduation, we are still cheering you on and are always keen to know how we can support you.
Newly redesigned this year, we have released our 2025 Desination Data reports, which you are invited to review. It contains information about our Year 12 graduates from last year, the studies they undertook, the results they achieved (and as compared to the Victorian averages), as well as the further study offers they received from a variety of tertiary institutions. These results are the culmination of a lot of hard work and commitment from the individual students, their teachers and staff, and the enormous support of parents, family and friends. As such, we take this opportunity to honour the efforts of all involved.
So, as a WCC community, let's celebrate these specific outcomes and achievements, which were, again, very encouraging. We congratulate those students who achieved outstanding ATAR and VCE results, and wish all our graduating students success in their next engagement in life, whatever that may be. We pray that they will continue to Love God, Others, Life and Learning as they embark on their next steps.
Our 2026 Theme: Love Learning
Last year at WCC, we introduced our new Four Loves Framework, which is the way we have chosen to articulate our College's holistic vision and philosophy. This year, we have chosen to do a deep dive on the fourth Love, which is intentionally ranked as such: Love Learning.
Our vision for education at the College is much more than our young people—and eventually, alumni—becoming better persons; getting a good, well-paid job; going to a great university; or even being good citizens in our society. These are all positive outcomes and certainly it is our hope that these do occur. However, the real vision for our current students and alumni is that whatever they do in the future, in whatever context, they are living and impacting, as our vision declares, ‘for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ’, for the sake of the gospel, for His kingdom. It is to live a life that brings faith, grace, salvation, mercy, love, compassion, justice, reconciliation and restoration. It is to shine the light of His Kingdom with a love for others.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
– Matthew 5:14–16
The imagery here suggests that believers are to openly display their faith and the truth of the gospel, not conceal it. This is at the heart of Christian education at WCC: that our students and alumni get to shine the light of Jesus to the world, in and through their lives of learning, and it would be absurd and counter-productive to educate for another purpose. In Christian education, therefore, learning is ultimately an others-focused activity.
This is so opposite to the emphasis of our culture on individual success, attainment or performance. It is why we constantly say to our graduates that a number does not define you. An ATAR is not the culmination of learning at WCC; a life in relationship with God, and a willingness to be led by his Spirit in response to His world as disciples of Christ, is!
With this in mind, can I encourage you, as an alum of WCC, to connect to the deeper story that comes with being lifelong learners. You will no doubt have realised that learning does not stop after secondary school. It is a whole-life journey. So, as you continue on your journey today, consider how your regular learning can be others-oriented. Who else can benefit from my learning? Are others—friends, colleagues, children who are watching—being encouraged to learn well through my example? If you claim the Christian story as your own, How can I use my learning to build up the body of Christ? May the vision of our college be a reminder to us all: to be a generation of people impacting their community, our nation and the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Every blessing,
Mr Rod Ramsay
Principal
College News
New International Partnership School for WS
In October last year, we communicated to the WS campus community that we were moving from supporting the Bethany Trust Preschools in India due to the Indian authorities removing permission to receive support from foreign organisations.
Since then, we have been researching and been in discussion with CSA Global Connect, Compassion, local mission organisations and staff who have connections with overseas workers. After much research and prayerful consideration, we are pleased to announce that the Wantirna South Campus will be partnering with the Jenelle Duncan Memorial Christian School in the Philippines as our ongoing international service-learning focus.
The school was established in 2010/11 and has grown from having five students to around 70 currently enrolled. The school offers children in the area an education regardless of whether their family can pay for it or not. There is a mix of fee-paying students and those who are offered a full or part scholarship, based solely on means testing. This means that there is constant pressure to find money to pay the staff and currently there are no big, local sponsors of the school. We hope to partner with the school through our weekly student-led fundraising initiatives as well as future opportunities to send both students and staff to serve and build relationships with the community.
For our national service-learning focus, we are pleased to continue our ongoing partnership with Kluthuthu Christian College in Weipa, Queensland.
Uniform Update
WCC will be getting a new uniform! After extensive surveying of the current student body, staff, parents, and alumni as well (thanks to all of you who filled out the survey), the College will be getting an update to its uniform to better reflect modern comfort, textiles and practicality. The process is still underway, but we are looking forward to the transition to the new uniform throughout the next couple of years and definitely in time for our College's 50th anniversary, coming up in 2028.
New College Website
We are pleased to announce that the College has launched our new website. While the former website served us very well for many years, it was time for a refresh to better reflect the College today.
We invite you to take some time to explore the new website by clicking the link below. Over time, we will continue to build on the site, with plans to add further features such as additional videos and a news feed.
Our new website also now has an Alumni page, which currently lists ways that our alumni can get reconnected. We will be adding more content there over time, including reunion dates, photos and videos, and ways to give back to the community. When you run into former classmates who are keen to get back in touch, you can now simply point them to the website for a streamlined experience.
If you've made it all the way to the end, thank you so much for reading and staying up-to-date with all the college happenings. From all of us at the Alumni Department of WCC, we wish you a deeply meaningful and joyful Easter season, celebrating the now and future reunion we have with God because of what Jesus achieved on our behalf. He is risen!
