College Advisory Committee

College Advisory Committee / T1 Meeting – 17 March 2026
Summary provided by Daniel Espinosa, Parent Representative
The meeting centred on two major strategic priorities for the College. It opened with an introduction from the newly formed Student Leadership Executive Team, where Ruby Griffiths (College Captain), Ava Patterson (Vice College Captain), and Oliver Turner (Vice College Captain) outlined their goals for 2026 and the role they intend to play in strengthening student voice. The Committee was highly impressed by the presenters’ confidence, clarity of vision, and the well‑defined execution plan they articulated.
This was followed by the Principal’s Report from Lisa Harkin, who provided key updates across several strategic areas, including progress on the instructional model, the establishment of an AI task force, and opportunities for students to present ideas on the TED platform, among other topics. As anticipated, the discussion on AI sparked a lively debate, highlighting both the significant opportunities, but also the emerging risks and concerns associated with the technology. It is clear this will remain a recurring topic in future meetings.
The agenda then shifted to College improvement priorities, beginning with a presentation from Jenna Dore (Director of Senior Learning) on the 2025 VCE results and the newly introduced letter‑grade scale for assessments, which prompted discussion on academic performance and assessment trends. The meeting concluded with Alysoun Smalley’s (Deputy Principal – Student Learning Culture and Growth) update on the development of the College’s Instructional Model, including the lesson structure and the active involvement of teaching staff, encouraging further reflection and dialogue on educational practice and future development priorities.
