Lourdes House Assembly – Justice and Peace
Lourdes House hosted the College Assembly on 3 March 2026, inviting the Marist‑Sion community to reflect on the theme of Justice and Peace. Led by Lourdes House Captains Macy Cornell and Archie Price, the assembly highlighted how these values guide relationships, leadership and community life at Marist‑Sion College.
In their House Address, the Captains explored Justice as fairness that responds to individual needs, and Peace as a state that allows individuals and communities to flourish. Linking these values to the Lourdes House motto Imagine, Believe, Achieve, they reminded students that meaningful achievement is grounded in justice and sustained by peace.
The assembly featured a College Captains’ Address, followed by the presentation of the Active Citizen Awards, recognising students and a staffs members for their positive contributions to school culture, peer support and leadership. These awards celebrated the everyday actions that strengthen community and reflect Catholic Social Teaching.

Year 7 Connection Week
Our Year 7 students enjoyed a valuable Connection Week, designed to strengthen relationships, build belonging and support a positive transition into secondary school. Through shared experiences away from the usual classroom setting, students had opportunities to deepen friendships, connect with their teachers and develop confidence within their House and tutor groups.
Connection Week plays an important role in nurturing wellbeing, resilience and a sense of community, reinforcing that students are known, supported and encouraged as they continue their journey at Marist‑Sion College.
Students attended Gumbuya world and camp rumbug throughout the week and enjoyed fantastic weather across the week. Thank you to all of the teachers who supported the students this week and an extra special thanks to the Directors of Student Wellbeing and Head of House Team.
Minecraft Challenge – Student Community Update
By Declan, Riley, Nara and the Minecraft Community
The Minecraft Challenge continues to be a vibrant and engaging initiative for students with a shared passion for creativity, collaboration and digital design.
This semester, the Challenge has brought together 41 students, providing opportunities for teamwork, communication and historical inquiry through immersive learning.
2026 Semester Theme: Medieval Marvel
Students are challenged to design and build within a medieval context, focusing on one key historical impact:
- Fire
- Flood
- Siege
This theme encourages students to research the past, apply problem‑solving skills and creatively represent historical challenges within a Minecraft world.
Building Community Through the Minecraft Challenge
The Minecraft Challenge plays an important role in strengthening the school’s Minecraft community by:
Encouraging Connection
Students with shared interests are able to come together, collaborate and build friendships across year levels.
Developing Teamwork
Teams demonstrate strong collaboration through role allocation, supporting one another within and across teams, and coordinating complex builds together.
Strengthening Communication Skills
Each Wednesday, participating students meet in the Library to plan, collaborate and receive updates and announcements from Ms Keatings. Students work together on planning, research, design, building in‑game environments and preparing accompanying PowerPoint presentations.
We would like to thank Ms Keating for her ongoing support of this initiative.
