All parents and carers should have received a 'Notice of Election' email from Compass declaring the beginning of the Nominations period of the 2025 School Council Election.
School Council is a great way to be involved in supporting the school and to learn more about the inner workings of a Department of Education School. This year, we have 5 parent vacancies to fill, so if you'd be interested, please pick up a nomination form from the office.
If you have questions about the role of a School Councillor, our outgoing President, Marisa, has made her email available for anyone who would like to know more: marisa.simanjuntak@education.vic.gov.au
The School Council Election timeline is as follows:
a) | Notice of election and call for nominations | Thursday 27 February 2025 |
b) | Closing date for nominations | Thursday 6 March 2025 |
c) | Date by which the list of candidates and nominators will be posted | Friday 7 March 2025 |
d) | Date by which ballot papers will be prepared and distributed | On or before Tuesday 11 March 2025 |
e) | Close of ballot | Tuesday 18 March 2025 |
f) | Vote count | Tuesday 18 March 2025 |
g) | Declaration of poll | Tuesday 18 March 2025 |
h) | First council meeting to elect office bearers (the principal will preside) | Tuesday 26 March 2025 |
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our magnificent 2024 School Council for their work over the last 12 months, they really have been a pleasure to work with. Thank you Marisa (President), Lauren (Vice President), Avery (Treasurer), Bardo, Elizabeth, Melinda, Nicole, Sonia, Steve, Tamarra and Wen Li!
A reminder that tickets are currently on sale for our annual Art Show opening on Friday March 14. Please see the Art Show page of this newsletter for more information.
The eldest child in each family will shortly be bringing home some tickets for the annual Art Show Raffle, with first prize being the wonderful Craig Mackie painting "Shelter" which is currently on display in the office area. Tickets will also be on sale at the opening.
Our heartfelt thanks as always to our brilliant Art Show team for your extraordinary work - if you'd like to join the Art Show Committee, new members are always welcome!
We can see some of the benefits of our Art Show in the photo of our new mural below - in addition to supporting resources for our art programs, funds raised enable us to bring in artists to complete artwork within the school and to work with students on how they are created.
