On Wednesday the 19th of February we hosted our annual year 7 Meet The Teacher Evening. Lalor Secondary College played host to our newest members of our school community. It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance and engaging in conversation and activities with the staff here at Lalor Secondary College. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who attended and supported the evening. I was a wonderful atmosphere with families enjoying the musical performances, activities and BBQ dinner provided. Well done to Mr Bullen the Programs Leader for coordinating the event!

From Wednesday the 26th of February to Friday the 28th of February, our year 7 students will be participating in the year 7 orientation camp. It is a great event where students and involved in activities such as archery, bush hut building, billy cart racing and high ropes courses. The camp is a great opportunity to get out of our comfort zone and try new things, as well as getting to know their peers and teachers in a different setting. I wish all the campers a great time and I look forward to visiting camp on Wednesday.

Parent teacher conferences will be occurring in week 6 of this term. We have two sessions that will be running this year. One online and one onsite. 

• Online learning conferences will occur on Wednesday March 5th from 1pm – 4:30pm.  Parents/careers will be able to make a booking from February 25th onwards. Meetings will be occurring online via your child’s TEAMS platform on their devices. All students booked will be invited to attend a meeting via TEAMS and this will be visible on their TEAMS calendar.
• On-site learning conferences will be occurring at Lalor Secondary college on Thursday March 6th from 1pm – 8pm. Parents will again be able to book via compass. 

Parent teacher conferences offer an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning journey for this semester, and to discuss any important concerns you may have. Please look out for more information to be available on your compass newsfeeds. 

Another major school event will be coming up on Tuesday the 18th of March, the Annual Discovery Evening. The Discovery Evening will run from 5pm – 8pm and display all the many incredible things that our school and staff offer at LSC. It will be an opportunity to new students and families to gain a glimpse at what students will be complete, participating in and achieving when they attend Lalor Secondary College, as well as ask any questions that may be wondered about the College. All families are welcome to attend.

Please be aware NAPLAN will be occurring for our year 7 and year 9 students from Thursday 13th of March and will officially conclude by Tuesday the 25th. Further details will be communicated in the coming weeks.
