from everyone's desk.

Congratulations and all the Best Noreen

This week, Croydon Hills Primary School's long-standing Physical Education teacher, Noreen McMenaman, informed our school community she is retiring. Noreen, who has been on leave since 2022, has had a remarkable career as a highly successful PE teacher, coach, Team Manager, and Sports Coordinator in schools and within School Sport Victoria. Noreen joined our school in 2005; prior to that, she spent 20 years as a PE and classroom teacher at Ringwood North Primary School and, in her early career, at Preston South Primary School.

Noreen has had tremendous success providing opportunities for children to thrive. In her role as PE and Sport teacher, she coached countless individuals and teams to achieve success at the District, Division, Region and State levels of SSV. Noreen was also a highly regarded and respected SSV coordinator of District and Division sports. A leadership role that required a significant amount of time and energy and provided schools and students with an organised competition pathway across all SSV sports. Along with equestrian sports in her personal life, Track and Field athletics is where Noreen's passions lie. Students across the state benefitted from Noreen's expertise and dedication in her role as SSV's 'Team Vic' Team Manager.

Noreen has been acknowledged by the Department of Education for her exemplary contributions on numerous occasions. In 2016 she was the recipient of the Department's Outstanding Teacher Contribution Award for PE and Sport. In 2019 Noreen was awarded 'Team Vic' Team Manager of the Year and in 2022 Noreen was honoured again, this time at the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships for her services to SSV and passionately leading the state's Track and Field team for 27 years. Noreen’s legacy is preserved via SSV's ‘Noreen McMenaman Award’, presented annually at the conclusion of the Track and Field Championships to a Victorian athlete who displays the same values as Noreen:  passion, dedication, commitment and friendship to others.  Noreen has also been a recipient of a School Sport Australia Service Award (2004) and, together with her husband Darren, is an SSV Life Member.

We wish Noreen all the very best in the next chapter of her life, no doubt it will include continued involvement in supporting and encouraging others to live a life full of physical activity!
