Principal's Message

Today, we celebrated the graduation of our 2024 Year 12 cohort. The ceremony, held in our new school hall, was a heartwarming occasion, with many friends, family, and community members attending to acknowledge this important milestone in the lives of our young graduates. Thank you to James Vella, who has supported this group through their high schooling. To each student, we wish you every success and happiness in the future and look forward to following your journey.

Congratulations to our new student captains Toby Gallagher and Matilda Currey; and Vice Captains John Brodigan and Bella Suckling. I am confident that each of you will excel as our student leaders for 2025.

It has been wonderful to see students enjoying our new campus and facilities. The basketball courts and grassed areas have been accessible for the past two weeks, and we are excited to open the athletics track and football oval early in Term 4.

Our new campus has attracted significant interest, resulting in a noticeable increase in new student enquiries and enrolments, particularly for our incoming Year 7 class. These numbers are the strongest we've seen in many years.

I’d also like to acknowledge the hard work of our Student Representative Council (SRC) this term. Under the guidance of our SRC Coordinator, Mrs. Mallinson, their leadership has been outstanding. Their efforts in raising awareness and funds for the World’s Greatest Shave, benefiting blood cancer research, resulted in an impressive $3,918. Additionally, their support during the Year 7 information night and their help with preparing and serving the BBQ dinner was greatly appreciated.

Our NAIDOC Week celebrations and cultural activities were a highlight this term. The annual Elders’ morning tea was the largest we’ve hosted to date, and being able to host it in Binaalbaa made the event even more comfortable and enjoyable.

Year 10 work experience commenced towards the end of this term, and I’d like to extend my gratitude to the employers in the Narrabri Shire and beyond who hosted our students. Your support has provided invaluable learning opportunities, helping students gain insight into various industries and role types, while offering them hands-on experience.

As always, Term 3 has been busy on the sporting front, with many students representing the school in various competitions, including the North-West Athletics Carnival, Waratah Secondary Schools Rugby 7s, and NSW CHSSA Athletics, netball and basketball. A special mention goes to Matilda Currey for her outstanding performance and achievements, managing her sporting commitments alongside her Year 11 studies.

Finally, the Wee Waa Show was once again well supported by our students who participated in a wide range of activities. From competing in The Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Award, to exhibiting artwork, entering cattle events, and contributing to floral art displays, it was a credit to all involved. I also wish to thank the teachers and support staff who assisted in the preparations.

I wish all our staff and students a restful and enjoyable term break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, 14th October.

 Yours sincerely
