Sport

It’s been another very busy fortnight in Sport for Team Rangeview, here are some of the highlights.

Whitehorse Division Athletics

On Monday, 14th October, 25 students from Rangeview Primary School competed in the Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival at Tom Kelly Reserve. Our athletes performed exceptionally well throughout the day against tough competition, with 14 students finishing in the top two of their events, earning a place in the Eastern Regional Finals next week!

One of the day's main highlights was our Under 12 Boys' 4x100m relay team, who finished 1st in a highly competitive relay race. The boys clocked an impressive 56 seconds, breaking their previous personal best. They will go to Regionals as one of the fastest qualifying teams.

A big thank you to the staff and families who supported our athletes throughout the day.

We would also like to recognize the outstanding 1st and 2nd place finishes by our students in the following events:

Under 10 Boys: Joel F – 2nd in Discus, 2nd in Shot Put

Under 10 Girls: Phoebe L – 2nd in Discus; Rayani R – 1st in 1500m; Edie R – 2nd in 800m

Under 11 Boys: Riyon R – 2nd in 1500m, 1st in Triple Jump

Under 11 Girls: Collette C – 1st in 1500m, 2nd in 200m; Arya L – 1st in Discus

Under 12 Girls: Gisele F – 2nd in 1500m

Division Volleyball & Basketball

Earlier this week, our Level 5/6 Girls' Basketball and Boys' & Girls' Volleyball teams competed in the Whitehorse Division Finals at Mullum Mullum Stadium. Both teams demonstrated great effort throughout the day, achieving some impressive results. The Boys' and Girls' Volleyball teams both finished 1st, earning the title of Division Champions.

Our Girls' Basketball team was narrowly defeated by a buzzer-beater in a high-quality final. Both Volleyball teams will now progress to the Regional Finals later in October.

Thank you again to our wonderful families & coaches for all your support at both events. Good luck to the teams at the Regional Finals! Go Rangeview! Good luck as well to our Softball Boys & Girls and Tennis Girls who will all play their finals in the coming weeks!

Team Victoria

We are thrilled to announce that the fourth member of Team Victoria for 2024 has been selected. Avish L, from Level 6, has earned a place on the Under 12 Boys' team—a huge honor, achieved against hundreds of other students across the state. Avish will compete at the Nationals later this year, and we wish him the best of luck!

A big thank you to Avish’s family for their support and dedication throughout his journey.

Thank you

Meg and I would like to express a huge thanks to the Cook, Gibbs, Jong, and Lakhani families for their incredible support in cleaning over 200 sports uniforms during the holidays. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and make a significant difference in keeping our sports program running smoothly.
