Year Two Team News
with Steph, Joel and Rochelle
The last two weeks have flown by, as we now look back to our Year 2 Sleepover last week with fond memories. Next week, we will be winding up our warm water swimming program on Wednesday 19th November. We have been extremely proud of the resilience all of our students have shown thus far. We would like to thank all of the fabulous parents who have kindly volunteered their time to assist us over the duration of the swimming program.
Important news:
Year 2 Sleepover: Once again, we would like to say how proud we were of our Year 2 Willy Kids for their enthusiastic participation during our Sleepover last week. All students exceeded our expectations in their ability to try new things, be brave and persevere through the event. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful parent helpers. Your help and support made the entire evening and day run smoothly. There are still a couple of lost property items in the Grade 2 corridor. Please come and check them out throughout the week if your child is missing something. Over the coming weeks, we will be printing off some photographs from our Year 2 Sleepover and displaying them in the corridor. Please watch this space and look out for them.
Upcoming Excursion to the Botanic Gardens: On Wednesday 3rd December, we will be having our Grade Two excursion to the Melbourne Botanical Gardens to support the learning of our inquiry unit. We are looking for two parent helpers from each class to assist on the day. If you are interested in coming to help, please contact your child’s teacher. Please note: To attend, you will need to have provided a copy of a current Working With Children Check to the school office and have completed the Annual Volunteer Registration 2025 on Compass.
Curriculum Focus: Weeks 7 and 8 of Term 4
Literacy: In Reading, we will be continuing to gather and summarise facts when reading non-fiction texts. In Writing, we will be drafting our information reports about the habitat, lifecycle and interesting facts about a chosen minibeast.
Numeracy: We will be continuing to revise place value, multiplication, and division.
Inquiry: We will be using our excursion to the Botanic Gardens to support our learning by evaluating different creatures and how they are suited to certain habitats.
Willy Kids: Through the pillar of responsibility, we will be learning about leadership and the different ways that people can lead.
Until next time,
The Grade Two Team - Steph Keswick (2K), Joel Kitchen (2J) & Rochelle White (2W)
