STEM EDUCATION ~ BBC (BeeBot Central) has arrived!!
The end game for our Beebots is for the students to navigate around a purpose built village. For this to occur, students will be given the challenge of programming the IT hardware to find their way around the township. A ton of thanks to our three engineers, Henry, Michael and Ella, who helped create our 16 x 16 grid for the Beebots to move around.
STEM Breeds Collaboration
It's been great to watch our Foundation students develop their STEM skills over the past week or so. A lovely by-product of it all has been watching our smallest kids develop their understanding of what it is like to work with others ~ to share, to take turns, to collaborate. The notion of helping others has been a year long focus and it has been quite overwhelming to see our F students put words into practice. We are very proud of them!
Year 1
BEEBOTS!! Wow! These were a hit with the grade 1s. The students had the opportunity to program and use the Beebots in our classroom. They worked collaboratively in groups to ensure they progremed them with the correction directions to move around the grid.
Year 2/3
The students in 2/3 had the opportunity to explore and enjoy the bee-bots during their Inquiry this week. In small groups, they worked together to command the bee-bots to go forwards, backwards, left and right using the buttons. With some collaboration and discussion, students were able to successfully move the bee-bots around the grid.
The students cannot wait for more bee-bot challenges to come!!!

Yesterday, on Tuesday, all the grade 3s and 4s had a long day. My favorite moment was when we made cookies. There were 2 groups, 1 group had Denise and the other group had Abby. Both teams made 2 batches. When we finished making the cookie dough we had to mould it with spoons. After that we put the first batch in then when we finished the second one we put that in the oven. When the cookies were done we ate them while watching a movie. When we had the cookies they were the BEST COOKIES EVER! The smell came up to my nose and when I had the first bite the chocolate chips were melting. It was so soft that it went straight through my teeth! When I tasted it everyone was groaning from how good it tasted. After I finished the other I got another and demolished it like a dinosaur, I wanted another after and another. They were scrumptious. When we went bowling all of us in our group made a strike and when we did we were jumping up and down like some kangaroos in the outback. After Ten pin bowling. We arrived at the school. We baked choc chipped cookies. It was delicious. Then we watched a movie while eating our choc chip cookies and some popcorn yum! Then we ate some pizza. I chose pepperoni. It was sooooo good. And after all that food we went back home. By Leo
The Excursion by Martin
The people were so excited when we got to the train station to go to the ten pin bowling. When the train arrived all the people went in and we waited 5 stations to get to the ten pin bowling. When we got to the ten pin bowling we formed groups. My group was Luke, Vlami, Georgia and Olivia. In the first round all of us did a spare. Vlami won with 88 points. Then we ate a snack and in the second round Luke did 2 strikes and we all did a spare again. I did a killer shot. I was very happy when I saw it on the screen. My group was the first ones to finish so we waited some time and then we walked again to the train station. After that we arrived at the school to make cookies.
Yay. This is so fun. I like this. Be quiet. Shhh my gosh. Y'all are so loud. We were doing pinch pots and scalpers. Me and my friends were at the same table. The teacher said we were the loudest of all of the tables. Me and two of my friends were doing a competition to see who could make the best food sculpture and my other friend made a snake but had to put it in the bin. Then we went to the staff room to eat pizza, the pizza types were margarita, hawaiian and vegan. Then we went to my class room to watch a movie. The movie was under the board walk. By Aylah
Year 4/5
Our Year 4 and 5 students have been busy learning and exploring this week! They’ve shown great enthusiasm in the classroom and enjoyed working together on fun activities. We are so proud of their curiosity, creativity, and teamwork!
Before the Year 5s headed off to camp, they were excited to take part in special classroom activities and prepare for their adventure.
Year 5/6
On Tuesday, the students in 5/6 had the opportunity to work with their buddies in the Foundation classroom. After attending Mass together in the morning, students returned and had a fantastic time learning with each other.
First the Foundation students taught their buddies how to do the 'Monster Mash' dance from our school performance earlier this year. Then, Foundation showed the students of 5/6 a song they have been practicing with Marty.
After this, the 5/6 students worked with their buddies to complete some writing, practicing where the letters go on the dotted lines and correctly writing each letter.
Here are some photos from our great morning of collaboration!
