Why Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is essential for student progress, wellbeing, and future success.

  • 90% attendance or above is considered the minimum for maintaining consistent learning.
  • Falling below 85% is considered chronic absence and may impact academic achievement.

The above information helps families track attendance so attendance concerns can be identified early.  If you are concerned about your child’s attendance, or need help interpreting the data in Compass, please contact the office.

Note to Parents and Carers

At Lyndhurst Primary School, student attendance and wellbeing are a high priority.  Our Attendance Team meets regularly to review Compass attendance data and identify any patterns or concerns that may affect student learning.

If a student’s attendance falls below expected levels, or we notice emerging patterns such as frequent lateness or repeated absences, the school may contact parents or carers to discuss the situation. These conversations are not to put blame on families—they are an opportunity for us to work together, understand what may be happening, and offer support.

Our goal is always to help families and ensure every student has the best opportunity to succeed at school. Regular attendance is vital for academic progress, social development, and long-term outcomes.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s attendance, or if your family needs support, please reach out. We are here to help.
