Gate security

At LPS, there are numerous gates for easy access.  From an Emergency Management point of view, these gates are not locked.  We do ask the community to thoroughly close the gate behind them, including the latch.

We are proud to share another significant milestone in Mr Greg Lacey’s leadership journey within education. Many of our families will remember Greg Lacey as Lyndhurst Primary School’s founding Principal, where he dedicated 14 years to building a school culture grounded in our five core values. His leadership empowered teachers to master their craft and provide students with opportunities to develop the skills, attitudes and abilities necessary to achieve their full academic, creative and social potential.

Last week, The Victorian Principals Association (VPA) proudly acknowledged Greg’s outstanding contribution to education. The VPA presented him with The VPA Life Membership Award, which is a prestigious honour recognising long-term commitment to the Association and to public education. Greg has been a former Deputy President, Board Member and Councillor with the VPA. During his 14 years at LPS, he also held roles as Network Chair within the Casey South & Central Networks and a Principal in Residence at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership.

On behalf of the Lyndhurst school community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Greg Lacey and wish him all the very best as he continues to inspire lead - even in retirement.

School Review

Gallery Image

We have a lot to celebrate at LPS.  We have been actively engaged in the four year School Review throughout Term 4. The process involves:

  • a self-evaluation (Pre-Review Self-Evaluation, PRSE), where the school reflects on its own data and practices
  • a review by an independent reviewer working with a panel, involving the Principal and Assistant Principals, a Senior Education Improvement Leader, School Council Principal and challenge partners; two external Principals).
  • classroom observations throughout the entire school
  • focus groups including students, student leaders, teaching and support staff and parents

The outcome is a review report summarising findings on student outcomes, school practices, and an assessment of compliance with minimum standards.

Based on that report, the school develops a new four-year School Strategic Plan (SSP), outlining goals, targets and improvement strategies.

The School Review is designed to be a comprehensive, cyclical process combining internal reflection plus external review, with the aim of guiding ongoing school improvement, accountability, and consistent planning over time.

Thank you to the entire LPS school community for their support and encouragement throughout this invaluable process.

A new school year is an exciting time for students and families, but it can be a big step – particularly for those starting Prep, secondary school or VCE.

The Department of Education has a webpage with resources and information to help you prepare for the new school year.

During the school holidays, please consider reading through the resources, which include:

  • tips to help transition from kinder to Prep, primary to secondary school, and Year 10 to VCE
  • what to expect at school
  • help with school costs and fees
  • health and wellbeing guidance to support children’s mental health. Please refer to the New year of learning webpage.

Careers Day Success

Gallery Image

Our SRC representatives proudly organised Careers Day on Friday 28th November, encouraging all students and staff to come dressed as what they dream of becoming in the future. Our classrooms were filled with miniature doctors, engineers, artists, builders, teachers, hairdresses, athletes and scientists. It was wonderful to see so many creative and heartfelt costumes, each representing a student’s unique interests and aspirations.

As part of the day, students were invited to bring a gold coin donation, with all funds going directly to the Australian Red Cross Appeal. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we were able to make a meaningful contribution to a worthy cause while celebrating our students’ dreams.

A big thank-you to our SRC team, lead by Ms Benizzi, for organising such an engaging and purposeful event. 🌈✨

Remembrance Day 11.11.2025 - Honouring Those Who Served

On a very wet and cold Monday, 11th November 2025, our school leaders proudly represented our community at the local Remembrance Day Memorial Service. Standing alongside veterans, community members, and local schools, our student leaders paid their respects to the men and women who have served — and continue to serve — our country in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping.

As the clock struck 11:00am, the group joined in a minute of silence,

reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. Our students laid a wreath on behalf of the school community, a gesture of gratitude and remembrance that was carried out with great respect and composure.

Their conduct throughout the ceremony was exemplary — they listened attentively, participated with sincerity, and showed the utmost respect to all involved. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school and demonstrated our values of respect, empathy, and responsibility.

Remembrance Day reminds us that the peace and opportunities we have today were hard-earned by others. It is a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks to those who served and sacrificed so that future generations could live in freedom.

Lest we forget.
