Pathways & Careers Report
Brennan Deppeler
As Term 3 ended and Term 4 began, the Pathways team has been involved in many activities. We have organised excursions, workshops, and helped students in Years 8 to 11 choose their learning programs for 2026.
On the 15th of October a group of, Year 10 VCE:VM students attended the Ballarat Freighters group. This day was organized in collaboration with Our Schools (an organisation that supports and promotes the Alumni of Woodmans Hill Secondary College). Students toured the massive facilities in Wendouree and had a Q and A with managers. There were so many varied employment opportunities from Welding to 3D Printing to Programming and Administration.
A number of students have, also, attended a range of Vocational Education Explorer Days at Federation TAFE, ranging from Hair & Beauty and Bakery & Cookery. These programs give our students a chance to experience real workplaces and a taster into the world of VET subjects offered in Years10-12. This can help them discover new career options and inspire their future choices.
This is a Pilot Program and will continue running into 2026, so if there are any future Year 9 or Year 10 students interested, but not sure about a VET program, get them to come and see us in the Pathways Office.
Over the past few weeks, students have worked closely with various staff members to finalise their Subject Selections for next year. By now, all students should have a clear understanding of their learning program for 2026. We encourage you to discuss these subject choices at home with your young person. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the pathways team.
