State Athletics Final

Our school took a squad of 10 students to the State Athletics Final which was held on Wednesday 1st November at Albert Park Lakeside Stadium.

This is an amazing achievement to have such a large representation from our school on this prestigious day. GO EVPS!!!!!

The day consisted of heats and finals with the top three in each heat automatically qualifying and the next 2 fastest runners also qualify for the final.

Individual results:

  • Eliel ran 14.08sec in the 80m Hurdles finishing 4th (heat) & 9th overall. He just missed the final by 0.50sec.
  • Skyla ran 14.18sec in the 80 Hurdles finishing 4th (heat) & 9th overall. She only just missed the final by 0.01sec.
  • Skyla ran 29.35 sec in the 200m finishing 6th (heat) & 9th overall, only missing the final by 0.05sec.

Eliel and Skyla missed out on qualifying for their finals by the smallest of margins, but both should be extremely proud of their efforts. To finish 9th in the STATE in an individual event is a terrific achievement. Well done to you both!

Team results:

  • Our girls 4x100m team consists of Lilly (6MP), Charlotte (6MP), Heidi (6NW) & Skyla (6MP). They ran a brilliant race and finished 4th in their heat and had a nervous wait to see if they qualified for the final. They just missed out finishing 9th overall by 0.50sec.
  • Our Boys 4x 100m team consists of Ziad (6MP), Eliel (6SB), George (5ZG) & Connor (5KK). They too finished 4th in their heat and after a nervous wait, they QUALIFIED for the State final in 7th position.
  • For the final we were in lane 1. The team ran excellently and ended the race in 8th position..……..8th in the STATE is a brilliant achievement!!!!!!

Congratulations to all students who participated in our school Athletics Program that we run during our PE lessons. This is the platform for our students to experience athletics with the chance to make the athletics team and go on to represent our school at District, Division, Northern Metro Region & State Finals.

My thanks to the parents and teachers who attended and helped out at the Athletics events throughout the year.

2023 has been another successful year and our congratulations again to:

Skyla, Eliel, Lilly, Charlotte, Heidi, Ziad, George and Connor.

Thank you,
