From the Head of Sport

For the second weekend in a row we will have all sports at home except Boys' Basketball. Parents and friends of BMGS sport are encouraged to come along to our home games to give your support.

There has been a big improvement in uniforms at both games and training and I would like to thanks all the players for making the extra effort to be in the correct gear.

Congratulations - Mountain Biking

A great result last weekend for Lucas and Oliver Rutherford who competed in the 2023 AusCycling NSW MTB Cross Country State Championships at Coondoon on the South Coast.

Racing in both the Olympic Cross Country (XCO) and Short Course Cross Country (XCC) events, Lucas surprised a few of the more talented riders by taking 3rd place in both races winning bronze medals in the u13s division. Oliver was up against a highly competitive field of riders in his first year of the u17 division but recorded impressive 8th and 5th places in his colourfully casual riding shirts amongst the sea of very serious looking lycra covered riders.

Well done to both boys and all the best for upcoming events. Mountains Biking is becoming a very big sport in Australia and it is great to see the success of both Lucas and Oliver.

Mountain Bike Competitions

We have had a lot of students getting involved in state mountain bike events which is great to see. Once again we have more events coming up over the next 6 months that students may be interested in. Follow the links below for further information:

BMGS Tennis – Round 2

Last Saturday, 28th October, the Odds team had a Bye whilst the Evens team travelled to Bathurst to play against the Scots All Saints Team.

On Friday, we had a shortened training session due to rain falling, however, this gave us some time to write down individual goals for the season. Students will be working on different aspects of the game, from serving to backhands and strategies such as setting up a point. Nicole, our coach, gave some tips to how they may be able to achieve their goals.

Congratulations to Eligh and Oliver who won their doubles match convincingly. Eligh also won his singles match and Oliver, after winning the first set, went down in the next two sets in tiebreaks. For the rest of our team, the SASC students proved too strong.

The overall score was a loss to BMGS with SASC winning 14 sets to 5.
