Year Six

Dear Year 6 Families,

As we approach the final stretch of this remarkable year, it's hard to believe how far we've come together. With excitement and nostalgia mingling in the air, we're thrilled to share the latest news and highlights from our vibrant Year 6 community.

Chance Math Groups

It's been fantastic witnessing our Year 6 students dive into their chance fluid groups with enthusiasm and curiosity. Exploring probability, outcomes, and uncertainty has been a key focus, alongside delving into concepts like experimental probability, predicting events, and analyzing data. Their dedication and hard work in embracing these challenging concepts have truly been commendable. It's inspiring to see their growth and eagerness to explore the world of chance and probability!

Writing

It's been incredibly rewarding to watch our Year 6 students immerse themselves in the world of scientific exploration through their state of matter experiments. Not only have they delved into the fascinating realms of solids, liquids, and gases, but they've also taken the reins in crafting their scientific reports with exceptional skill and enthusiasm. Their dedication to independently documenting their experiments, observations, and conclusions reflects both their growing scientific prowess and their genuine passion for understanding the world around them.

Science

The 'ice cream in a bag' experiment was a resounding success, with our students displaying both scientific curiosity and a love for a delicious treat! Their excitement bubbled over as they eagerly prepared their ice cream concoctions, some even bringing along an array of toppings to personalize their creations. Beyond the delicious outcome, what truly impressed was their responsible approach to the experiment. Not only did they actively participate and follow instructions carefully, but they also showcased an impressive understanding of the scientific principles behind the process.

Year 6 Day of Wellbeing

The Year 6 Day of Wellbeing was a resounding success, fostering a nurturing environment where our girls delved into a range of essential topics guided by their supportive big sisters. Exploring themes like positive self-talk, body image, and the power of sisterhood, they engaged in insightful discussions, allowing for open dialogue and valuable self-discovery.

The day was a platform for them to ask questions, learn from one another, and deepen their understanding of themselves and their peers. The positive and supportive atmosphere encouraged an enriching exchange of thoughts and experiences.

The boys also got to engage in our wellbeing day! Having Alistair Donohoe join us was such a privilege. His insights into the connection between exercise and wellbeing were truly eye-opening. It's fantastic that the boys had the chance to learn from someone who embodies the positive impact of physical activity on mental health.

The activities and team-building exercises were  fantastic for helping them grasp the importance of mental health, especially during November, which is 'Men's Mental Health' month. It's so crucial to have these discussions and activities, empowering boys to understand and nurture their mental wellbeing.

Graduation Prep

As we approach the much-awaited graduation ceremony, our students are gearing up to make it an unforgettable event. The air is filled with melodies as our talented young voices rehearse their songs, each note carrying the anticipation of the grand day. Behind the scenes, our dedicated MCs and eloquent class speakers have been meticulously crafting their scripts and speeches, ensuring they capture the essence of this momentous year.

But that's not all! Our dancers have been putting in countless hours perfecting their moves, brimming with excitement to showcase their performances. Their enthusiasm and dedication promise a spectacular show that will add an extra sparkle to our celebration.

Carols Prep

Our school is buzzing with excitement as students pour their hearts into preparing for the upcoming carol performances. Behind the scenes, our talented Year 6 students have dedicated their time and creativity to craft captivating dances that will light up the stage.

Carnival Success!

Our weekend carnival was a fantastic success, thanks to the incredible efforts of our Year 6 students who took charge of a stall to support our school. Their dedication and hard work were truly commendable as they designed and managed a stall that captivated everyone's attention.

Throughout the day, these enthusiastic students tirelessly encouraged visitors to try their hand at throwing a ball at the target to win exciting prizes. Their energy and commitment were contagious, drawing in crowds and ensuring a fun-filled experience for all. Witnessing the joy on the faces of those who won prizes was a testament to the students' efforts.

Moreover, the initiative didn't just create a buzz but also contributed significantly to our school's fundraising efforts. Their determination and initiative have not only showcased their entrepreneurial spirit but also their commitment to supporting our school community.
