Student Engagement

Orange Careers Expo 2023

Orange Careers Expo featured a wide variety of local and national employers, service providers and training organisations who were primed with interactive stalls and ready to answer questions regarding their industries.

Representatives from industries such as animal care, agriculture, mining, construction, retail, warehousing and logistics, beauty, hospitality, tourism, law enforcement, community services were all present. Anson Street Students from stages 5 and 6 joined students from Canobolas Rural Tecnology High and Orange High to discuss future opportunities and collect information, exploring careers and tertiary education pathways.

Orange Function Center was packed with students and stallholders, there was so much to see and do. From virtual welding with TAFE Western to inspecting different cow feeds with the Farmers' Association. The Expo highlighted the amount of opportunities in our local area as well as the less-known, but vital roles that exist in all industries.

A huge thank you to our REIP officer Jacquie Smith, for putting in so much work to provide such an amazing experience for our students! Phebea sure looked at home on one of Cabonne Council's bulldozers, she was pretty stoked to honk the horn!

Work Experience Continues

Work Experience in Term 4 has been a great success. Students from Stages 5 & 6 have been actively engaged in real-world workplaces and showing off Anson Street School skills and style.

A huge thank you to Cabonne Council, Davimac, Horts Enterprises, Jenny's Classroom and Toys2, Intersport, The Willows Childcare, Wangarang, Orange City Library, RDA and Birdie for being gracious hosts and supporting our students in their Work Experience this term.

Phebea and Bodhi are our Employees of the Month by showing off their retail skills. Phebea has been attending Jenny's Classroom and Toys2; serving customers, wrapping gifts, keeping shelves tidy, and unpacking new stock (not to mention, doing a lot of quality control of the squishy and fidget toys!).

Bodhi has been kicking goals with Intersport Orange, working closely with the team there to see that customers' sporting needs are met with professionalism and kindness, as well as maintaining stock by setting up and packing down displays.

Great work, workers!
