Science and Agriculture

Year 9 Science

Our Year 9R1 class recently engaged in a creative poster-making activity focused on ecology. The students explored various aspects of ecosystems, highlighting the importance of biodiversity, conservation, and the intricate relationships between organisms and their environments. They showcased their understanding of food chains, energy flow, and the impact of human activities on natural habitats. The posters reflected their research and artistic skills, featuring vibrant illustrations and insightful information. This activity not only enhanced their knowledge of ecological concepts but also fostered teamwork and environmental awareness. We are proud of their hard work and commitment to promoting ecological sustainability.

Year 8 Agriculture

Our Year 8 Agriculture Tech 3 class recently undertook a sapling plantation project in the school’s agricultural plot. The students prepared the planting beds, enriched the soil with manure, and planted saplings of cabbage, “bok choy”, and lettuce. Demonstrating excellent teamwork and dedication, they ensured the saplings were well-watered and cared for. This hands-on experience not only taught them valuable agricultural skills but also emphasized the importance of sustainable farming practices. Their efforts are hoped to certainly lead the foundation for a fruitful harvest and a deeper appreciation for horticulture.

Year 8 - Water Cycle and Poster making activity

Year 8 have been exploring the processes of the water cycle. We used zip lock bags to model the process of evaporation, condensation, and perspiration.

Year 8 have also been exploring the impact of human activities on the water cycle and environment. 8G were challenged with the task of developing propaganda posters to convince their audience of an opinion that they may not necessarily agree with.
