On Wednesday, June 12th, we introduced our new mid-year CAPA showcase. The evening featured musical performances from our new Vocal Group and Rock Band ensembles, alongside our talented HSC students.
It was an incredible opportunity for our students to demonstrate what they have been working on throughout Semester 1.
The night was seamlessly run by our 2024 Entertainment class, and the stage looked amazing for all of our performers.
Year 12 visited Sydney Theatre Company to attend a production of Stolen by Jane Harrison. As a studied text, this production was an invaluable opportunity for students to better understand how the conventions of contemporary theatre are used to provoke strong audience responses and promote change for the better. The class also took part in a pre and post-show discussion, in the director and actors spoke about their own history and connection to the play and the Stolen Generations in Australia.
On Wednesday 19th June the Camden High community were treated to an evening of laughs at the inaugural Theatresports Night. The night featured 8 teams from Camden (including a P&C team!), Mount Annan High School and Elizabeth Macarthur High School, where groups demonstrated their improvisational skills by replaying the same scene 3 times with different emotions, creating soap operas set in an open person’s home, searching for a lost dog while only speaking words from a different play, making passionate speeches in an art gallery and saying ‘I love you’ in unromantic locations. Thank you everyone who attended the evening.
A big thank you to our judges, entertainment team and Mr Moore for organising the event.
Congratulations to Ms Bendeich, Ms Kedward and Mr Evangelista aka The Quick Wit Crew for taking out first place on the night!
Throughout Term 2, students in Music from Stages 4, 5, and 6 have been busy composing their own original songs. They have experimented with a variety of instruments and utilised computer software like Hookpad and Noteflight to notate their compositions.
This creative journey has not only enhanced their musical skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of music theory and composition. The students have shown remarkable dedication and creativity, producing a diverse array of original works that reflect their individual talents and interests.
