This term, our students have been learning about the awesome scientific properties of the forces in our world. We have looked at the forces of gravity, friction and buoyancy and how we use them in our lives.

This week, we have been exploring buoyancy and the tendency for objects to float on water. After learning about how forces in water and liquids push things up against the force of gravity, we were set a challenge; can you make a floating object out of foil and straws?

With excitement and enthusiasm, we set out designing our boats. After designing and labelling, we were given our materials and set to work cutting, tearing and bending to make our ships. Some of us even took up the extra challenge of making our boat move across the water.

Our scientific and investigative minds keep growing ever day, along with our curiosity of the world around us and our problem-solving skills.
