National Simultaneous Storytime

On the 22nd of May the year 7 cohort participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) and NSS is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 24th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.

This year’s book is called Bowerbird Blues and is written by Aura Parker who is an award-winning illustrator, writer and designer. Her picture books are joyful with a playful sense of humour, brimming with details to explore. Aura Parker’s storytelling through words and pictures inspires imagination, courage and confidence in young readers as well as a love, curiosity and passion for nature.

 Business Management Hijinx Hotel Excursion

The Year 12 Business Management class have been studying the topic 'Operations Management' where they learn all about manufacturing and service businesses. The class have become experts on how different businesses use a variety of inputs and processes to create an output that is purchased by the consumer. To consolidate their knowledge, they attended the Hijinx Hotel which will act as their service business example for the unit.  They completed a series of challenge rooms, each presenting students with a series of puzzles, riddles, and tasks to complete within a set time limit. It was great to see the students come together to work as a team and engage in some healthy competition! Well done to the Careful Unicorns who won first place for the day!(Do not press the green button!)

Top Designs Excursion

“Students across Units 1 & 3 VCE Visual Communication and Design visited the Top Designs exhibition at the Melbourne Museum.  They had the opportunity to participate in a forum presented by VCAA representatives and designer and illustrator Alice Oehr. They also viewed previous students' final presentation designs and folios in the museum gallery space for inspiration, gain ideas and approaches to their design practice.”
