Some words from the Principal
Mrs Danielle Heatley
I trust this update finds you well and you’re all managing to stay warm in this first week of winter. Our teachers and staff are working hard today moderating student work and preparing for Semester 1 reports. We hope that you have been able to enjoy the day backing it onto a long weekend has hopefully allowed for some families to head away!
What a fabulous night we had on Wednesday at the "Dancing Through the Decades" concert! Our students dazzled us with their incredible performances, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work and dedication. Their enthusiasm and wonderful costumes made the night unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Year 3 /4 teachers (Ms McCandlish, Mr Wilson, Mrs Bacalja, Mrs Vitas, Ms Beagley and leaders Mrs Grimes and Ms Brown), who not only organized the event but also stepped into the role of dance instructors to make it all possible. Staff from across the school provided support in a variety of ways and we thank the office staff for yet again their wonderful organistion and support of the event. Of course our students were the stars of the show though and certainly stepped into their costumes and lived their decade! The evening was a shining example of our community coming together to celebrate creativity and teamwork! We are looking forward to expanding our next wonderful event to involve the whole school!
As mentioned in various communications this year, we hare thrilled to have moved towards Student-Led Conferences. Student-Led Conferences allow students to have the opportunity to share their learning with their parents/caregivers. They are led by the students themselves, who have done some pre work in class to prepare them for the conference. The students get to share their learning journey, demonstrate a deeper understanding of their learning and take ownership of their own learning. Conferences also enhance the collaboration between parents and educators, which is a strong focus at Karoo.
Please note these conferences will be onsite with your child, yourself and the teacher. We will be holding them from 9-11:30am and then again from 3:45pm- 7:30pm. Please see more information from Mrs Peta Phillips on the Teaching and Learning page.
On Tuesday 18th June, School Council will be presenting the 2023 Annual Report and highlighting major milestones achieved in 2023. The AGM is open to all members of the school community who would like to attend. The AGM will commence at 7.00pm and conclude after approximately 15 minutes. The meeting will be held in the staff room prior to our school council meeting.
Please don't hesitate to tell family and friends to book in for a school tour if they have a Foundation student for next year. Current families must also apply online by July 26th for enrolment in Prep 2025. Please refer to our 2025 Foundation page in this newsletter or see Karen if the office if you would like assistance with the process.
The last day of Term 2 is Friday 28th June. School finishes at 2.30pm. OSHC will be available from that time. Term 3 - The first day back of school for Term 3 is Monday 15th July.
Have a wonderful L O N G weekend,
Regards,
