From The Principal Team

Hi Parents and Carers,

As we walked around the school on Tuesday morning, following a long weekend, the gentle hum across all classes and the focus we saw from students was wonderful to see. Our students are well and truly settled into their classroom routines and it was evident from the groups working on the floor with their teacher, the students working independently at their tables, or the students working collaboratively with their peers, that our students were engaged in the learning intention for that lesson. As a leadership team and staff, we have been focussing heavily on developing consistency from Prep to Year 6 in terms of lesson structure and high expectations and we will continue this work throughout the year.

Thank you to all of the grandparents and special friends that joined us at school last Friday afternoon. We trust that the students loved having you here and showing you their learning environment, introducing you to their teacher and friends and showcasing some of their learning. It is very special to share what we do each and every day and we love these opportunities to invite you into our school.

Last weeks celebration of World Oceans and World Environment Day was a lot of fun. We saw some fabulous costumes inspired by the theme of the day and heard some powerful discussions taking place in classrooms around what we do at both Beaumaris Primary and in our community to be proactive in caring for our environment. Thank you for supporting the day with a gold coin donation; we raised a total of $672.60 which will support Sustainability and Kitchen Garden projects at our school. Thank you to our Environmental Science teacher, Mrs Lindy McManus, for organising this day along with our JSC, Sustainability captains and Wellbeing captain.

Congratulations to three of our students, Persia, Alannah and Pax, who competed at the Regional Cross Country event yesterday. Each student did incredibly well and should be very proud of their result. We extend a huge congratulations and good luck to Pax, who has moved into the next round - the State Cross Country event!

Next week our teachers will undertake a planning day for Term 3 with their teaching team. When the teacher's are meeting with their team and undertaking important planning and preparation work for the upcoming term, the student's will have their specialist lessons as well as learning time in their classroom with a different teacher.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Kind Regards,

David, Grace and Ellen
