Senior School Report

It has been an eventful few weeks in the Senior School as we approach the end of Semester 1. Our Year 10 and 11 students have successfully completed over 3000 written examinations, all of which will be detailed in the Semester 1 reports released at the end of term. The Year 12 cohort completed the General Achievement Test (GAT) on 18th June in preparation for their final secondary school exams in October/November. It was inspiring to see our Senior School students approach the exam period with maturity and dedication, and they should all be proud of their achievements.

Students have now begun their Semester 2 coursework, with Year 11 and 12 students progressing to Units 2 and 4 respectively, and Year 10 students transitioning into their Semester 2 electives. This marks a crucial time for pathway planning, as all Senior School students have met with our career practitioners to complete their Career Action Plan. This information will guide them in making informed decisions about their educational journey beyond Senior School.

As we approach the end of term, one of the highlights in our pathway planning process is the Senior School Information Night on 25th June. This event, held at the Banksia Theatre, was attended by students and families from the 2025 Year 10s and 11s, who learned about the exciting opportunities available to them next year. Subject selections for 2025 will commence for the Year 12s in Week 1 of Term 3, followed by Year 11s and 10s in subsequent weeks. Please watch for communications regarding this process and opportunities for parents and guardians to participate early in the term.

We would like to recognise the outstanding work of Ms. Lauran Walters, who served as Acting Senior School Assistant Principal at Banksia this semester, and extend a warm welcome back to Mr. Jonathon Boyd, returning to this role after a semester away. Additionally, we acknowledge the dedication of Mrs. Alison Parkes, who led the VCE-VM students at Banksia in the first semester. Mrs. Parkes will be handing over the role to Ms. Walters starting from Term 3.

Wishing you all a safe and rejuvenating holiday break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on 16th July for another busy term filled with subject selections, Year 10 work experience, Year 12 formal, and much more.
