College Principal Report

Dear Keysborough Community,

I am thrilled to share with you the outstanding achievements and significant milestones we have reached together during this longer than usual Term 2. As we navigate through 2024, a year marked by reflection and structural reorganisation, I am immensely proud of the work undertaken across the entire college.

Our commitment to the values of respect, excellence, and diversity has been evident in all aspects of school life. These values are the foundation of our community and drive our actions and decisions. It is heartening to see these principles come to life through the efforts and achievements of our students and staff.

One of the standout highlights of this term for me was 'Keysborough's Got Talent'. This event showcased the incredible array of talents within our student body. From captivating performances to creative displays, our students demonstrated not only their diverse skills but also their dedication to excellence.

Another memorable moment was watching one of our college bands perform at Parkmore Shopping Centre. The band's performance was a testament to the hard work and passion our students put into their music. It was wonderful to see our values of respect and excellence on display, with students supporting each other and striving to deliver their best performance in a public setting.

This term, we also took significant steps in making our values more visible across our campuses. The placement of our respect, excellence, and diversity values at the front of our campuses serves as a daily reminder of what we stand for and what we strive to achieve. My hope is that it serves as a constant inspiration for students, staff, and visitors alike.

Academically, our students have worked incredibly hard. Different year levels completed NAPLAN assessments, the GAT, and mid-year exams with determination and resilience. These assessments are important milestones in their educational journey, and I am confident that their efforts will be rewarded with positive outcomes. I commend our students for their dedication and perseverance.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff for their collective efforts this term. Despite the challenges of a longer term, our staff have remained focused on improving learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students while also undertaking some structural reforms across the college for 2025. Their commitment to our students and to continuous improvement is truly commendable.

Our community members have played a crucial role in our achievements this term. I am grateful to the families who have supported their children by attending student performances and concerts, participating in Information Nights, and engaging in school consultations on various initiatives. Your partnership with the school is invaluable, and it reinforces the strong community spirit that makes our college special.

Looking ahead, we have an important milestone next term with our school review. This review will provide a comprehensive insight into our strengths and will help inform our priorities for the next four years. It is an exciting opportunity for us to reflect on our achievements and identify areas for further growth. I look forward to sharing the outcomes of this review with the community at the end of next term.

To our students, I wish you a wonderful mid-year school holiday. Take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. Be safe, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Term 3 on Tuesday, 16th July. Please note that Monday, 15th July is a student-free day, allowing our staff to prepare for the term ahead.

I would like to briefly thank and acknowledge Robyn Hughes, Amy Batchelor and Lauran Walters for their respective work and dedication this Semester and to welcome back Natalie Fode (Acacia Campus Principal) and Jonathon Boyd (Banksia 10-12 Assistant Principal).  We are fortunate to have a wealth of quality leaders at Keysborough College.

In closing, I want to reiterate how proud I am of the Keysborough College community. Together, we continue to uphold our values of respect, excellence, and diversity, and together we achieve great things. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our shared goals.

Enjoy the holidays, stay safe, and see you all in Term 3.

Mr Sykes
