Week of Wellbeing

Week Five in the school, signals the start of Wellbeing Week. This is something we focus on in Week Five of every term because we want to draw attention and raise awareness about the importance of having a healthy mind as well as a healthy body. Whilst it seems like a lot of enjoyable things occur during the week, these have a place in improving our disposition, increasing engagement and shifting our negative bias. Students who are mentally and emotionally balanced are more likely to function better in all walks of life. By addressing mental health early in a child’s learning journey, we can take a proactive approach and learn ways to take care of ourselves, rather than having to be reactive and responsive when things start to take a difficult turn.

I encourage you to think through the systems and spaces you have at home, where you may feel stuck in a rat race, always nagging and may be negatively minded. What can you do to flip it, break the pattern and spin a more positive tune?

Last week we enjoyed two big events – National Simultaneous Storytime where we all shared in the reading of Bowerbird Blues, a beautiful uplifting story about searching and persevering until you find what

you need. And our Athletics Carnival was a huge hit, with the overall winners yet to be announced, we eagerly await the house results. Well done to everyone on a brilliant day – students and staff alike. There is a photo gallery now available on The Hub.

This week we look forward to the highly anticipated Kinder Night Out on Friday night. Stay tuned to hear about the wild things they get up to, as they stay at school after dark!

Have a wonderful week.
