We have had an AWESOME two weeks of Science learning in STEM!
Here is what we did:
Henny Penny Hatching Program
This week, in preparation for the arrival of our chicken eggs, all students began learning about the life cycle of a chicken, the importance of eggs in our diet and farming practices in Australia.
Some amazing photos of some baby chickens and eggs will be in our next newsletter!
Plant Update!
Here are some photos of our plants that are growing:

Foundation:
The foundation students have been enjoying working with new materials and mediums. They have practised painting with watercolour paints and ink. They also created some funny faces using different facial features and wool.

Grade 1/2:
The grade 1 and 2 students have been busy working on mixing primary colours into secondary colours. They created colourful icypoles. They used markers to colour their icy poles and mixed the colours together with water. The Grade 1 and 2 Eric Carle inspired suns and moons are complete and on display in the foyer.
Grade 3/4:
The grade 3 and 4 students have completed their Pete Cromer inspired big cat collages. These are on display in the foyer and look great!

Grade 5/6:
The Grade 5 and 6 cohort have been working on creating dragons eyes using plasticine and glass eyes. These are turning out to be amazing.

On Wednesday we celebrated Environment Day! Students explored the reasons why we celebrate Environment Day, and ways that we can take care of our environment. They looked at strategies such as reducing waste and littering, recycling, planting trees, reducing our water usage, and being respectful of wildlife. Foundation and some helpers from Grades 1/2 also created a colourful Environment Day collage, that is now on display in the Health Room.

Students in Grade 5/6s have submitted their BPS Community Garden Posters to be reviewed by Miss Sheppard. These posters highlight the rules all students are expected to follow when participating in the garden activities, to ensure we are all being safe and supportive of each other.
The garden area has undergone a fresh start makeover, and is ready for students to begin their gardening adventures. To kick-start our garden’s growth, will begin with planting some strawberries, mint, and parsley, as well as a variety of beans and peas. Students will be in charge of maintaining the garden, as they watch their plants grow big and strong.
