From our Parents Commitee

Due to predicted wet weather, we decided to postpone our Africa Day Celebrations – we will announce a new date soon.  The Africa Day Team has worked hard to put on a new event for CJC and there is still time to join the organizing team and to get involved.

This week CJC celebrated Educational Support Staff Day which recognizes the excellent work that this part of our school community does to support our school and students – administration staff, business manager, first aid, the wellness team, maintenance/groundskeeping and student support staff. On behalf of the parents and carers of the school, the PC arranged a morning tea of Aviv cakes and quiches for all staff at CJC.

AFRICA DAY – NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED

Next week we will celebrate the very first Africa Day at CJC from 3.30 to 5.30! There will be a dance lesson, face painting, music, badge making, African food (corn cobs, beignets, Gateaux Manioc, Mauritian curries, and banana cake) and traditional childhood games including:

  • Potato and spoon race
  • Bike tyer race
  • Tin can knock-down
  • Mbube Mbube (blindfolded animal hide and seek)

We need some volunteers to assist us with setting up the activities, food service and supervising some childhood games including: AFRICA DAY VOLUNTEER SHEET

Thank you to our Africa Day coordinators: Clarel Philibert, Pascale Fedele and Philomen Sadi Mateta, and to Lynda-Rose Rechter who had the idea in the first place.

Fête de la Musique: The PC plans to run a school disco to celebrate this event.

CJC Parent’s Band: We have also formed a CJC Parent’s Band and the Band is looking for a keyboardist to join. The band has number of other talent musicians in its line-up including a bass guitar, guitar, singer, drummer and saxophone player. Send us an email to be put in touch.

CJC Families Facebook Group: Did you know that we have a CJC Facebook Group called CJC Families?  The page is used to inform our community of CJC Events, sell 2nd hand uniform, find a babysitter and more. The page is private, and you must be a CJC community member and answer the questions to join.

EFM - Call for Volunteers: The EFM provides a range of francophone services to our CJC community, including running the ever-popular EFM after school activities. The EFM is looking for additional volunteers to support the management of these programs and other programs. Joining the EFM IS a great way to deepen your francophone connections at CJC and beyond. Please contact president@efm.org.au if you can assist.
