Year 3 and Year 4
Thank you Ms Advani
Thank you, Ms Advani, for your wonderful work with 4B during your placement. The students were very lucky to have you teaching them and benefited greatly from your knowledge, care, and dedication. We wish you all the very best for the future and know you will be a wonderful teacher.

Cross Crountry
A big congratulations to our superstar Cross Country runners who represented Sacred Heart at the Beachside District Cross Country event. With over 200 runners in each race, we are incredibly proud of Ruben, Elwood, and Isabelle, who all did a fantastic job and represented our school with determination and pride.
A special congratulations to Isabelle for placing 2nd, Elwood for finishing 7th, and Ruben for achieving 36th place in such a highly competitive field. What an amazing achievement by all three students!

STEM
This week in STEM & Sustainability, the Year 3/4 students had the chance to cook and get creative in the kitchen. Making rice paper rolls, they explored how to create a healthy meal using fresh ingredients including cabbage, cucumber, noodles, capsicum, and lettuce. Students enjoyed preparing their own rolls while learning about healthy eating, sustainability, and trying new foods. Students even practiced cutting skills in a safe environment.
A big thank you to Ms Allen for creating this special memory for our students — we know it was a highlight of the week!

Birthday Box
Assembly has been a big hit with our new Birthday Box Wheel! Thank you to Ms Maloney for bringing so much excitement to such a special Sacred Heart tradition. It was wonderful to see Chase and Milada with the biggest smile and so much excitement as he got a turn on Friday.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day Assembly Performance
We are incredibly proud of our Year 3 and Year 4 students for their wonderful performance at our assembly on Thursday to celebrate our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The students performed beautifully and represented our school with confidence, enthusiasm, and pride.
Well done to everyone involved in making the performance such a success. We would also like to thank our Year 3 and 4 parent community for sharing such lovely photos, helping us capture and celebrate this special occasion.

English
In English, our Year 3 students have been developing their factual recount writing by drawing on their learning from both Topic studies and the class novel, Yirra and Her Deadly Dog.
Through exploring rich vocabulary and deepening their understanding of the history and significance of the Aboriginal Flag, students have crafted thoughtful and informative recounts. It has been wonderful to see their confidence as writers grow, with students applying their knowledge of sentence structure, descriptive language, and factual information to produce high quality pieces of writing. We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity, and progress they have demonstrated throughout this unit.
Writing
Our Year 3 students completed their No More Marking writing task this week using the prompt below. It has been fantastic to see students writing in full sentences, applying correct grammar and punctuation, and using their knowledge of clauses and conjunctions to create engaging and detailed pieces of writing. We are proud of the progress they continue to make as confident and capable writers. Well done to these amazing writers!

Maths
Mathematics in Year 3 has been full of exciting exploration and discovery as students have been investigating data in a variety of real-world contexts. From examining weather statistics from the Bureau of Meteorology to analysing information from Google and even Olympic data, students have been developing their understanding of how data is used in everyday life.
Year 3 students have worked hard to not only analyse and interpret data but also build their skills in collecting and representing their own data. Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and enthusiasm for learning throughout this unit have been commendable. Keep up the fantastic work, Year 3!
Topic
Throughout our Topic lessons, students have enjoyed extending their knowledge from our English novel study while exploring Aboriginal history and culture. Through rich discussions and engaging learning experiences, students have deepened their understanding of Australia's First Nations peoples and their significant contributions to our nation's history and identity.
Skills Block
This fortnight in our skills block, we have seen 4B thrive in reading, which is reflected in recent check-ins with each student demonstrating what fluent reading looks like and how this applies to their learning.
Within our skills time, 4B has also been working hard on transitions to ensure we are using every minute as a learning minute.
Well done, 4B, for being fantastic learners and working very hard.

English
In English, we continue to explore Uncle Xbox and the story of Dusty, developing an understanding of First Nations peoples’ culture. It has been incredible to see this knowledge deepen throughout the term as students write a factual recount of the events, building and refining their writing pieces.
We look forward to seeing these completed in the coming weeks and celebrating our learning from the term.

Maths
In Year 4, we have been working very hard in Mathematics to explore data sets and how they can be collected, represented, and analysed. Students have been developing their skills in interpreting information and presenting data in a variety of meaningful ways. In addition, we have begun exploring angles, learning to identify, compare, and describe different types of angles through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks.
Well done, Year 4, on being great mathematicians and working so hard to learn new concepts!

Topic
Throughout this Topic, students have explored the perspectives of First Nations peoples and the role reconciliation has played in our history. It has been wonderful to see students engage with a range of perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of Australia’s rich history and culture.
As we conclude our study of First Nations peoples and the establishment of the first British colony, we now begin our new Topic: the Age of Explorers.
Year 4 shout out
We love celebrating all of our students in Year 4, but this week we would like to give a special shout-out to Lilah. On Thursday, she was seen helping get people chairs for Grandparents and Special Friends Day, bringing in the bins, and even taking the initiative to collect rubbish around the school.
Lilah demonstrated what it means to be an active and caring member of our community, showing responsibility, initiative, and pride in our shared spaces. Thank you, Lilah, for showing us what it looks like to see something that needs doing and taking action.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day
It was a day that was very special in our calendar, and it certainly did not disappoint. Thank you to everyone who helped make Grandparents and Special Friends Day so memorable. It was magical to see our classrooms transformed into spaces filled with connection, laughter, and shared memories.
We are so grateful for these special moments and the memories created together.

Pride in our learning space
In 4B, we were incredibly proud of the way students worked together to set up and pack away for Grandparents and Special Friends Day. By showing respect for their learning space and taking responsibility for their classroom, students truly brought the saying “many hands make light work” to life. Their teamwork, cooperation, and willingness to help ensured the event was a success and demonstrated the strong sense of community within our class.

Fun in the Art Room
It has been a busy few weeks in Art as students completed the creation of their ships. It was wonderful to see so many boxes given a new life as students recreated the boats of the First Fleet. The creativity, effort, and attention to detail shown by the students was fantastic.
Thank you to Mrs Gray for giving students the opportunity to bring their learning to life through such a creative and engaging experience.

Please keep an eye on nForma for further details as the events draw closer.
