Hello from Grade 4/5 and Mr MB

This week we have been working on fairytales, fables and myths in reading and writing. The students have completed learning tasks based on the stories of Jason and the Argonauts, Ali Baba and King Arthur. They have also completed inferencing acitivites about the picture story books Bin Chicken and Don't Trust Fish.

In writing, students developed an idea for an imaginative text, planned a story and then wrote it. They have been working on expanding ideas, describing characters, settings and action in detail and adding interest to their writing.

In maths, our pre service teacher, Mr D, has been taking maths lessons all week. The students have been learning all about fractions. They can now place proper, improper and mixed fractions on a number line, order fractions with different denominators and convert mixed fractions to improper fractions and improper fractions to mixed numbers.

On Thursday students attended an interactive, indigenous dance performance called Saltbush at the Ulumbarra Theatre which was enjoyed by all.

On Friday a number of students attended the regional cross-country at the Bendigo Racecourse.
