HEALTHY EATING AND PIZZA MAKING IN YEAR 7
In food this semester we have learnt about how to make food safely and about healthy eating using the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. Two weeks ago we learnt to make pizza. I feel I have learnt a life skill now and can make the pizza again at home if needed. I was not actually expecting the pizza to be so easy to make, but the teacher demonstration was clear to follow and helped us to see what to expect along the way. In my opinion everyone should learn how to cook therefore the recipe has been attached at the end of this article so you can all give it a go at home!

Pizza making was fun and a little extraordinary as the dough was made from yoghurt and flour which I had never done before. This was a very easy way to make dough if you have not made it before.
Archer Gilmore, Year 7
I found pizza making really enjoyable and it was satisfying to see the dough form and come together. It was fun to assemble the pizza and cook it at the end.

- In a bowl, combine the flour and yoghurt and bring together to form a ball.
- Turn out onto a floured bench to knead for roughly 5 minutes or until smooth.
- Using your rolling pin, roll out to desired thickness and place on baking paper on your tray.
Pizza sauce:
- ¼ Cup Crushed Tomatoes
- ½ tsp garlic
- ½ tsp mixed herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Mix together all the pizza sauce ingredients in your small jug/bowl.
Assembly of Pizza
- Spread the pizza sauce over the pizza base, avoiding the edges to leave a crust.
- Scatter ⅓ cup of cheese over the pizza.
- Select toppings from those available to you, chop and place on the pizza.
- Bake at 200˚ C for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden.
