From Emma, Year 2 teacher

Reading and Writing

This past fortnight in Literacy has been out of this world! Year 2 students have been reading and writing about space. In Reading, we have explored the main ideas of texts, made connections between fiction and non fiction and learnt about non fiction text features. This has inspired two writing pieces being an information report and a narrative. We are really excited about the work that we have created!

Math

We have been building a strong foundation by exploring addition and subtraction. We’ve represented addition problems visually, played a lot of fun games and explored Part-Part-Whole.

About Me: Hi I’m Emma and I’m originally from Sydney! I moved to Melbourne over a decade ago to go to university and ended up never leaving. I’m excited to be back from maternity leave and teaching Grade 2 this year.

Favourite Colour: Red

Favourite subject to teach: Reading because I love to read stories.

Favourite dessert: I can’t go past anything with chocolate.

Favourite book: I love anything by Haruki Murakami and my favourite kids book is The Book With No Pictures.
