Australian History 

We are learning about Australian History. Our focus is on the significant events and social groups that have shaped what Australia is today.

We read Mem Fox’s book ‘I’m Australian Too’ which explores the cultural diversity immigrants bring to Australia. 

We discussed our own personal places of connection and discovered many students (or their parents and/or grandparents) were born in many different places around the world. We marked these places on a map and it was amazing to see the diversity in our classrooms!

Some other activities we will be engaging in are learning about Indigenous Australian cultural practices, important events in the history of Australia and showing these on a timeline, and the colonisation of Australia.
