Mitchell Green in his first senior game with Glenorchy

Glenorchy Football Club has been through a very lean period after many years of being a powerhouse in Tasmanian football. ‘Very lean’ in terms of 1000+ days since its senior side had won a game in the Tasmanian Statewide League—that is, until Saturday 6 April when it had a 10-point victory over the North Hobart team.

There were twelve former students on this victorious side: Coach Josh Arnold (SVC 2009-12), Captain Harrison Gunther (SVC 2012-15), Vice-Captain Matt Joseph (SVC 2009-12), his brother Daniel Joseph (SVC 2009-12), Jordan Hayden (SVC 2010-13), Blake Wright (SVC 2014-17), Isaac Manson (SVC 2014-17), Tom McGann (SVC 2016-19), Jack Males (SVC 2017-20) and two lads who were in Year 10 last year: Mitch Green and Jesse Cox.

The team has been strengthened by the return of Daniel Joseph and Joran Hayden from Queensland, where they were two of five Old Virgilians who were members of the Redcliff Premiership Team in the QAFL competition.

For the record: Votes for the game – H Gunther (3), M Joseph (2) and J Hayden (1)
