DEBATING

I had the pleasure of attending round 2 of the school debating competition at Brighton Grammar last night.

Our Year 9 team – Scout Hore, Isabella Anderson and Celeste Johsdorfer debated the negative view that Victoria should cancel the suburban Rail Loop. They lost by just 2 points to McKinnon.

The year 11 team of Thaya Kovaleva, Adam Weisz and Jennifer Morrison defeated Star of the Sea with impressive arguments and  critical thinking, debating the negative that greenwashing should be a criminal offence.

The year 12 team of Gavi Aleksentitser and Harleen Purewal were joined by Jennifer Morrison for her second debate of the night. Although I didn’t see this debate, Gavi tells me they were excellent! They beat Brighton Grammar.

If you teach these students, please congratulate them. I also encourage anyone who would like to attend future events to do so in term 2 – it is an excellent night out!
