A busy and successful start to the year - Term One recap

Dear Parents,

As we wrap up Term One, it's hard not to reflect on the whirlwind of activities, achievements, and growth that our students have experienced over the past few months. If your child (ren) is feeling a bit weary, it's entirely understandable – they've been engaged in many enriching activities that have pushed their boundaries, built new skills, and forged friendships.

  • Our Year 7 students have seamlessly transitioned into their new school environment. Their resilience and adaptability were evident during their exhilarating day at a high ropes course, where they not only conquered physical challenges but also bonded with their peers.

  • Year 8s embraced the spirit of adventure on their surfing excursion. This hands-on experience not only taught them a new skill but also instilled a sense of confidence and camaraderie among them.

  • A day in the Grampians launched the year long Year 9 Experience, engaging in outdoor activities, learning about the environment and forming bonds.

  • Our senior students enjoyed the pre/during/post excitement of the annual Dinner Dance. It was heartwarming to see the students embrace the dinner, music and dancing with friends.

Our sporting teams have been on fire! We witnessed triumphs at the State Rowing Championships, in shooting, basketball and cricket grand finals, as well as our students showcasing their athletic prowess and House/College spirit in swimming and athletics.

It has been a hive of activity and learning inside the classrooms

  • Year 11s and 12s tackled their first SACs with determination and focus.
  • We hosted visiting authors and guest speakers who enriched our students' learning experiences.
  • Field trips and excursions.
  • Auditions for our School Musical, choirs and orchestras had their first performances.
  • The Easter Service on Wednesday was an important reminder of the values we hold dear.
SRC BBQ
SRC BBQ

Thank you to the SRC which organised and managed the inaugural Term One whole school BBQ.

A special mention to all students who volunteered their time on Sunday for our Open Day. Your passion, dedication, and pride in showcasing our school left a lasting impression on our visitors. I couldn't be prouder!

As we look forward to Term Two, I encourage every student to embrace the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Our school offers a breadth of opportunities and I have no doubt that our students will continue to thrive and excel.

Finally, as we head into the holiday break, I hope each of you finds time to relax and recharge. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's educational journey.

Leukemia Foundation fundraising

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Olivia Read who cut her hair this morning to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation. Olivia has raised over $3000. Congratulations!

This is an extract from Olivia’s fundraising page:

Why I'm taking part:

April 2023 was the time when my 18 year old brother got diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. At this time he just got his license, could legally drink and go to the pub, and had his first trip with his mates outside of school. This all stopped once one phone call turned his and our families life around. Rushed to Geelong for treatment, mum stopped working to help him while dad stayed behind to look after me. The thoughts that i could lose my brother scared me and my family. I have decided to cut my hair for him and raise money towards the Leukemia Foundation and to show him that we all have to stay strong together.
