CALL OF THE LAITY

I AM THE VINE

I am the vine and you are the branches,

Live in Me and you will never die.

I am the vine and my Father is the keeper.

Come to Me, let the Spirit bring you life.

Like a tree planted by the living water

To stretch its roots into the living stream

You will show no distress in the heat of the drought,

But still bear fruit and live.

I am the vine and you are the branches,

Live in Me and you will never die.

I am the vine and my Father is the keeper,

Come to Me, let the Spirit bring you life.

Come to Me, all you heavy laden,

My yoke is easy, my burden is light,

I will raise you up on the wings of an eagle,

And to God’s Mountain will fly.

I am the vine, and you are the branches,

Live in Me and you will never die.

I am the vine and my Father is the keeper,

Come to Me, let the Spirit bring you life.

Come to Me, let the Spirit bring you life.

After Jesus' Resurrection this past Sunday, the readings serve as a reminder that we are contemporary witnesses for Christ. In today's fast-paced digital culture, which challenges our attentiveness and ability to focus, listening becomes increasingly vital in our spiritual lives. We require a contemplative approach to seek guidance and spiritual renewal from the vine. This is our calling to bear witness to the living Christ.

Diligence and Sustained Effort

Over the past two weeks, I've been engaging in discussions with several senior students about the significance of "diligence and sustained effort" in their studies.

What does this concept entail? Essentially, for a St Pius X student, it means applying oneself to the best of their ability according to the Student Learning Attributes outlined in the diary and student reports.

Students achieving at a "satisfactory" level, as defined by the Learning Attributes, would only be satisfactory in their diligence and sustained effort towards their learning. On the other hand, students who excel at the "Outstanding" level are clearly demonstrating exceptional diligence and consistency in their approach to learning.

Throughout the first term, I have consistently emphasised the importance of "High Standards and High Expectations." If we are dedicated to being diligent and consistent in our learning efforts, then we are all contributing to and upholding these high standards. Hopefully, students' Interim Reports accurately reflect the diligence and sustained effort they have demonstrated thus far in the academic year.

On behalf of the College, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs Maxine Hunt for her dedication and valuable contributions to St Pius X College. Mrs Hunt has resigned from her position in the Student Services reception area. She has been a loyal member of the College for the past 29 years, and we sincerely appreciate her unwavering commitment to the community, especially to the students. We wish her every success in her future endeavours.
