Walk and Wheel Wednesdays

Featuring: Ellery in FKJ wheeling to school

National Ride2School Day is on Friday 22nd March!

Students and families are invited to arrive at 8:15am for a fruit breakfast and a ride on our smoothie bike. To avoid excessive plastic waste, we ask students to bring their own reusable plastic cup from home

They will also enjoy a ride around the oval and a scoot on the basketball court at lunchtime.

Last year, around 300 students rode or scooted to school, and it will be even busier this year!

If you have an opportunity to assist us on Friday - morning or afternoon - we’d love you to be part of National Ride2School Day.  If you can help please contact Heidi Roast at heidi.roast@education.vic.gov.au

Last week Wednesday was quite a rainy day, but this did not stop the walking and the wheeling.  Congratulations to 5SB who had 67% of their class walking or wheeling to school.  That is amazing effort. Remember that if the conditions are not ideal, you can drive some of the way, bring an umbrella and wear an umbrella.  It is important to stay safe and dry.

Walk and Wheel Wednesdays have so many benefits including:

  • Reduced traffic congestion
  • Keeping our bodies active
  • Extra quality time with family and friends.

If you live far away or the weather is not ideal for walking, your family can park the car close by and walk part of the way to school.

Wheeling can include various modes of transport including bike, scooter, skateboard, and unicycle.  There will be an award for the class with most walkers and wheelers in Junior School (Foundation- Grade 2) and Middle/Senior School (Grades 3- 6)

Please remember if you are riding to school, that once you arrive at the gates to get off and walk your bike to the bike storage area.  Orlando (6HR) rides his biked to school daily to keep himself healthy.  In this picture above he is demonstrating how he walks his bike to through the school.

Colin in 4JX has created a sesnation details drawing with a lovely poem

The “Walk and Wheel” Art Gallery has re-opened.    Please send any drawings or poems to 6HR so that we can celebrate our budding artists.
